Good grief , of course he knows the rule. He's a prodigy who's been playing this game since he was a kid . Geesus!! In his defense he may have been so flustered with his misfortune that he wasn't 'thinking straight '. His caddie didn't pick it up , either. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, :) the alternative is SiCK, I'm SUrE u agree. That said , once it became 'clear '? Be a man , default - he KNOWS the history of the game , knows Jones. Say 'no thanks committee, I signed the card. No new precedents I withdraw . ......he's chasing records , not strong enough .
So you are saying that Tiger purposely cheated? And then knowing he cheated, incriminated himself during the post round interview? That's how you see it?

Never said that , it's a possibility for damn sure given his history. What I'm saying is he didn't have the courage to do the right thing - withdraw . NOT surprised . Faldo , Norman , Duval all called him out . They must be 'haters'? Again he KNOWS the history of this game , he KNOWS what Jones was about

Knowing the history of the game and knowing the rules are 2 separate things. In case you did not know, the rules of golf are very complex. I guarantee there is not a single pro out there who knows every single rule inthe rule book. If the rule he broke was soon obvious then why did the committee not originally penalize him when they first looked at it? Remember, there is no penalty for not knowing the rule, it's only a penalty when you break a rule. When Tiger signed his scorecard the committee had already determined he had not broken any rules which is why he did not sign an incorrect scorecard and was not DQ. The committee made the error here in not initiating the penalty once he finished his round. If you can't understand that that you are hopeless in this matter.

I'm hopeless ? Just reading ur posts on the matter I can tell ur not an avid golfer , so please save the insults . U can't 'guarantee' what another thinks/knows (in this case the rules of the golf game) - so take a deep breadth , and TRY to understand that this is THEIR livelihood -basic rules are KNOWN. Local course rules have to be read prior to tourney (see D Johnston at whistler Straits) . What Tiger violated was a BASIC rule - he apologized after the fact , no balls to withdraw .

sorry , don't mean to be an ass , but I'm done here. I don't even think u have a clue what
I'm saying. It's good to be fan ! Enjoy it!

Lol, so I can't guarantee something but you can guarantee that Tiger knew the rule? Good one by you. And obviously you can't tell shit because I was working in a pro shop when I was 15. My stepdad is a retired PGA club pro so I think I know a little about the game. And again I will ask the question you avoided. If the rule he broke was so obvious why did the rules committee not see it the first time they viewed it?

LMFAO

the game is about honor ,did u miss that at the the shop ? No rules official with that group . He killed himself post round interview . :)

again, no clue what's in his head - GET the Following through ur thick skull- ONCE he realizes he was WRONG and admitted to it (get it?) then WITHDRAW, don't want any exemption , no new rule , no new precedents - 'I'm not above the game'

GET IT?

Norman , Faldo are haters ?

I think he would have. But he broke a rule, took the penalty that was given and moved on........anybody that says he should have withdrawn is just ridiculous. Tiger is the golfer, not the rule maker. He broke the rule, and took the penalty. Story over, get a life folks

Total respectful of your opinion. I see your side and can't say why you are wrong. We may disagree about #1 vs #2, or frontrunners, but the main deal is I have yet see anyone better over the last 15 years. He is still the best in the game. Of all time is probably where we differ. I may be a little young to comment on Jack personally, but rather historically.

Tiger breaks Jacks record and there is not much argument left......but a big if is missing.

I sure don't have an argument over the last 15 years, Tiger is no doubt the best over that time..Having Tiger behind Jack all time, at this time, isn't a argument out of left field to a reasonable person.. as far as the penalty is concerned, I have stated, I have no problem with the penalty, to much grey area to argue it either side IMO

Ricboff.....yea it's pretty stupid for people to say he should have withdrawn. I answered with my opinion to the question.

RedEye......you were thinking the same thing I was before the penalty happened. On Friday night actually, nothing that happened Saturday before #13 could have changed your mind.......on another note, I think I heard Friday that jack had win 14 majors on his 67th major and this years masters was either Tigers 66th or 67th major. One of you stat lovers can look that up but pretty sure that was it. So they are about at exact same pace now that tiger slowed. Except tiger already blew away Jacks total wins......I still think tiger beats jacks record by a few. Just thought I put that other stat there for you and Albatross sake

I noticed RE, taylor is quite the character .takes pride in his golf knowledge , a good thing . Once Tiger gets into contention he prematurely ejaculates ..wasn't it 'I hope every one put some coin on tiger to win the grand slam '. Geesus , that mid- second round , no? Chap hasn't won The Masters in 7 yrs, Hasn't won a major since when ? Has NEVER won a GS. ....he's a big fan , no doubt . Wish him well .

Ricboff and RedEye...I appreciate your golf comments and opinons....I enjoy any golf talk on the forums...

Ricboff....there are plenty of athletes with questionable values and character...you must hate a lot of them...Tiger isn't the first guy to fool around and cheat on their wives...

Most of the time I only care what a player does inside the ropes and the white lines just as long as he isn't hurting anyone else...Racism and driving drunk are probably my only concerns when addressing athletes...

Thank you.....if you think I was serious about the grand slam then perhaps you should get out of the house more often

He has held the trophy for winning all 4 Majors in succession....in my eyes that is a grand slam...
How many golfers have done that?

Not sure If I understand most of your post but will try and decipher.. That 67 # I was referring too was 1967 when the guy signed the incorrect scorecard and was disqualified after winning at the Masters.. I just brought it up because I thought it was relevant since the same Masters hiearchy DQ'd him back then.. If your referring on who I thought might win the tournament.. I'm not going to ever say Tiger is not a threat despite his drought, but have always said there is no value betting him with these low odds.. I thought +660 going into Sunday was reasonable and thought it was a good idea to protect the winners I had in contention on the 1st page
