Scott won despite his putter. sure he made a couple in the clutch , but overall its a liability for him.. to answer the qustion, no he wouldn't have won..once the weekend approached Tiger startede missing fairways, greens, and putts...

Top five

Then why did you wager on him in the third round?

i dont know why people are assuming he would have made birdie if that shot doesnt hit the flag. The shot would have landed past the pin (since it hit the stick on the fly) and would have taken a decent bounce. I saw alot of shots on Friday take a big bounce and end up in the fringe, which was relatively close. He landed his second attempt 6 or so feet short of the flag and after its initial big bounce it stopped dead. Thinking that he would have had a tap in had he not hit the pin is a guess.

You ever see a golf ball suck back to the hole or come back because of the slope of the green?
Par would have been a good score as it turned out....

I wagered on him because I was in a great position with Scott, Day,Cabrera,Snedeker,so why not protect my position..I was getting better odds +660 then you could before the tournamnnt began.. Lets not brag about top 5 finishes, everytime I bring that up about Jack having all of those top 5 finishes I get shot down like its nothing. Tiger does it and its big news..

It is sad that people have to bring down the number one player in the World....or anybody in any profession that exuberates greatness...there will always be haters....he gets a two stroke penalty that equates to a triple bogey on the hole and still finishes top 5 in the field...he was striking the ball just as well as anyone in the field...and putting better than most...Red Eye must have been watching a different tournament...

We get it VD, either your on your knees along side Vonn or your a hater...

Many what-ifs here. Tough to say....I thought Tiger played lights out once he made the turn but was a little too far back at that time. You make one damn good point about Scott tho.....he couldn't buy a putt Sunday except the last one. Scott could have won by a wide margin if he made half the high percentage putts he missed. I am glad he finally won a big one. By far the nicest golf swing in the game today.

Viejo...Tiger is a favorite because the public makes him the favorite, his game has improved this year but not like it was 5 years ago and you are correct, none of us are as good, Tigers issue is that the players are not as scared of him as they were in the past, because his game is not what it was.......

How can you improve on being the number one player in the World? And I don't believe the players of any year were scared of Tiger but maybe just a bit intimidated....his game is still good enough to beat most....and I enjoy watching the battles between him and the rest...the best test is when a player is paired with him in a tournament...Tiger wins most of those matchups...

Think you misunderstood my answer...Tiger is still good but he dominated his early years....nobody will ever dominate like that again....
I understood your answer. It was the question within the answer that didn't make sense. Everyone thinks that Tigers game has diminished so much is the reason he doesn't dominate anymore when in reality it's more about the other players stepping up their games and getting to the point where Tiger can't dominate like he did years ago. Adam Scott is a much better and more experienced player now than he was 10 years ago when he was one of the new young guns on your. How many heard of Dufner or McDowell 10 years ago? It's just as much about the other players getting better if not more than the fact Tiger isn't as good as he was.

Isn't Tiger #1 today? Outside of winning, didn't he still place higher than any other "big guns" of the world? Don't understand all the Tiger hate. Enjoy watching the best we will ever see in our lifetime.....no need to let it pass you by.....like the guy or not.

I agree 100%. I've been fortunate to see both Jack and Tiger play in my lifetime and enjoyed watching them both. Whether Tiger equals or breaks Jacks majors record remains to be seen but I sure hope he at least gets to 17 and challenges it because it would be great for the game of golf.

looks like your joining the VD & Taylor fan club.. Again I will repeat this one more time, only because your a good poster Albatross.. Just because us so called haters aren't on all fours for Tiger doesn't mean we hate.. Personally I don't hate anything, not even my 3 ex wives.... There is no hate in my posts.. Just because I don't think he would have won this week, mostly because he hasn't proven he can on championship courses the last few years, doesn't mean I hate him.. Just because I don't put him in front of Jack doesn't mean I hate Tiger.. Just because I think he is just the greatest front runner of all time doesn't mean I hate Tiger.. I just tell it like it is from my point of view and that offends the Tiger apologists in here..I do respect his game and what he has accomplished.. Do I respect him as a person, no.. Thats why I root for other golfers that I respect and like.. Doesn't make me a hater..

Kudos .

for most of his diehard fans his golfing greatness grants immunity from scrutiny . Attack him? u hate him.Like you , I believe he's a fantastic golfing talent . Don't care for him at all- character unacceptable , sad for an elite sporting figure.

I would have bet the max that he'd not withdraw .Let me leave u with this query- if he was notified prior to signing his card that they would review his drop further would he have mentioned his faux pax during the interview ? :).....um, Mr.woods, slip of the tongue ?......sir, u don't know the rules ?.....he's NO Bobby Jones, fair ? :)

Everyone would have bet the max that he would not WD if such a bet was out there. Why would he WD? And if he had been questioned about the drop before he signed his card he would have said exactly what he said in his interview and been penalized 2 strokes and that would have been it.

He obviously did not know the rule. You think all golfers know all the rules?

Good grief , of course he knows the rule. He's a prodigy who's been playing this game since he was a kid . Geesus!! In his defense he may have been so flustered with his misfortune that he wasn't 'thinking straight '. His caddie didn't pick it up , either. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, :) the alternative is SiCK, I'm SUrE u agree. That said , once it became 'clear '? Be a man , default - he KNOWS the history of the game , knows Jones. Say 'no thanks committee, I signed the card. No new precedents I withdraw . ......he's chasing records , not strong enough .

Total respectful of your opinion. I see your side and can't say why you are wrong. We may disagree about #1 vs #2, or frontrunners, but the main deal is I have yet see anyone better over the last 15 years. He is still the best in the game. Of all time is probably where we differ. I may be a little young to comment on Jack personally, but rather historically.

Tiger breaks Jacks record and there is not much argument left......but a big if is missing.
