Firstly, when it comes to online gameplay, nothing beats pc gaming. Mods, constant game updates, and the mouse and keyboard definitely surpass any xbox or ps system. When comparing console to console, Xbox is much better than ps online due to the fact that it has a larger fan base for sports gamers and fps shooters. Gears of War just came out which will provide a real spark for live.

Xbox live= I believe you have either a gold or silver plan which costs 50+ dollars a year.

This is a complete lie.

Guys just go to your best buy and find a sales rep, or even a manager and offer them 2k to hook you up with a ps3 on opening day.

They will all tell you the same thing. Sony will have a rep at the store checking to make sure that the units all go out to customers not best buy employees.

I specifically refer to best buy because i know where its almost impossible for these folks to do this. I dont know about other stores.

sure...I'm going to lie about where i worked and what we did when PS2 came out...thanks for your contributions here at the RX. Can assure you i've never seen a sony rep in a best buy either.

I agree with everything you said. This is why i wont buy the xbox. There is no difference between that machine and my home pc. Only i dont have to pay for online gaming with my pc. And like you said i get way more functionality with my pc. And i am one of those old skool gamers who still plays UT99 hardcore.


I will get the ps3 for one thing alone. When it comes to fps and other adventure games eg. God of war, GTA, contact fighting etc, i prefer to play those on a console.

I dont use my current ps2 for any kind of online gaming.

So what i need is a killer real 3rd generation console that has a blue ray player.

And its not because of the blu ray movies. I am still trying to get my mind around playing a 100 gig game.

Thats almost 20 times the map of GTA san andreas, no load times, with individually unique civilian population instead of the cloned figurines with the same constant dialogue. And then imagine that every structure on the map will have its individual enviroment. Imagine being to enter and errrr "explore" every single household on a map that large, or explore every single floor of a sky scraper?

could it be possible to simply make a game with a map of the major us cities? all i know is that 100 gigs is good enough for such gaming and i am awaiting such gaming experience.

I agree. I still cant decide if I want a PS3 yet though. 700 bucks is a good chunk of money you can get a pretty nice PC for that or a WII with a bunch of games.

Looking forward to the warcraft expansion and vangaurd saga of heros so that will last me until I decide or the price comes down and there are more games.

I am still trying to understand why any one but a preteen child would buy a WII.

Its not a next generation console, its a limited improvement over the current one (but then again nintendo fans apparently dont mind shelling out bucks for add ons), the games are the same un-imaginative repetitive games done over and over, eg mario part 549 or whatever its called and worst of all a limited library that barely even dips into games i am actually interested in.

I know 700 is a whole lotta loot, but i get the blue ray, a vast library of games that will satisfy every one in the house from the kids to adults..(no kids really but i know a couple of women who do visit and their kids love my ps2 setup) Some of the upcoming games like "LAIR" on the ps3 just have me wetting my pants.

I just cant see myself shelling out 300 bucks for a product that is absolete
right out of the box.

Dont tell me you dont even play God of war just for the hell of it..

Its the most amazing game graphic wise that ever came out on the ps2 and the most complete game i have played on any console.

Matter of fact i put that right up there with Baldurs gate..(only baldurs gate gave me years of game play while God of war was only a couple of weeks...(now imagine playing a game as involving as baldurs gate with about 20 times the size of maps and many more different story lines and adversaries...)

I am just looking forward to games with multiple ways or accomplishing the missions and alternative ways to achieve one goal so that every gamer will have a unique experience. I just dont see nintendo headed in that direction.


But to be fair to the WII fans, this is not a gadget intended for gamers such as myself. They target a completely different demographic than the category i fall in. So while i cant understand why some would opt for that, i full recognize that others have different gaming tastes and as such satisfy them in the experience provided by the WII.

no man.... I have never had to play the zelda games because they are just not my cup of tea.

I like my games hardcore with some form of realism. I would have a hard time getting into a game like zelda or mario..

I think the act got tired. It was quite funny though. Actually I was just thinking this the other day that Conan doesnt do a lot of the crazier things that he used to. Letterman was the same, but I didnt think Conan had reached that point so soon.

"I truly became sick and disgusted when I went to ebay to view all of the pages upon pages of hoarding jerks that took pre-order spots just merely to sell them back at exorbinant prices to real gamers. Specifically the EB/Gamestop ones really pissed me off because Gamestop has a policy of cancelling pre orders that are sold on Ebay (new policy). So I called Gamestop corporate last week and asked them about it.. they said to e-mail them any information of people selling on E-bay as it was AGAINST their policy and the pre-orders would be CANCELLED.


I wrote down the information for approx. 100 -150 of the listed auctions that were from a Gamestop or an EB. I also included pictures and sent them to Gamestop corporate. I received an e-mail back a few days later after a followup call I received this.


Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXX,


Gamestop places a great deal of importance on customer service and allowing customers to obtain the product which they desire. Due to this, we have instituted a policy that each household may order only 1 (one) Playstation 3 and Wii. Unfortunately, we have found many persons whom attempted to circumvent this policy and order more than one system. Those persons with duplicate pre-orders at different or the same store had all of their pre-orders cancelled. Our policy also extends to selling on Ebay as selling a pre-order on Ebay is against the core value of allowing all customers to obtain a product at MSRP.

Thank you for sending us the information from the pre-order receipts of systems that are attempting to be sold on Ebay. The information has been recorded and we are in the process of cancelling the respective pre-orders. We are also closely working with Ebay to inform the bidders and remove the auctions.
