Hi Friend....I have no dog in this fight...this story has been embellished over time and like many things in history..this isn't what really happened...What did happen is well documented and has been supported by Namath many times over the years...the Jets were not looking to stir anything up with the colts...Namath was being pushed and goded by the press leading up to the game. finally in response to the same question and statements he'd been getting about them having no chance...he made the "guarentee" which was taken completely out of context...being that they won the press had a field day and the story turned to legend....GL this weekend

This is correct. It was just an offhand comment at the time he said it.

well from 1 new yorker 2 another...fuck off....joe willie most overrated player in nfl history

Also correct. Lands at the top of every overrated poll, no matter who's polled; other players, coaches, the media, fans.
Never beat another team with a winning record after that SB. Look it up.

Joe Namath finished his career with a 62-63-4 record, 50.1 completion percentage and 173 TD's compared to 220 INT's. Hardly hall of fame worthy but he's in Canton.

5 occurrences in 50 years, 2 in the last 20, 1 in the last 11. Not too reliable, and not really statistically relevant

Another thing about systems is that rules and style of play affect their reliability. I deal with systems all the time. Basketball is a prime example. The 3 Ball revolution has completely changed the way the game is played. I changed or dumped several systems just based on this.....and have also created new ones covering the past 3-5 years because of these changes.

The NFL is a completely different game than the one I watched growing up in the 70's and 80's. The NFL today is similar to the NBA, where launching from 3 and throwing the ball the majority of the time has changed the way the game is played.

If you're unwilling to share this system, so that folks here can make a decision on how relevant it is based on today's style of play, then I would be surprised if anyone gave this system a second thought.

Deflecting by answering the irrelevant Joe Namath distraction...

SO, are we gonna see the exact details of the 5-0 system, or what?

Perhaps so but keep in mind if you read the thread completely my debate with Buster was in regards to "the guarantee" not Namath's playing ability or stats. You're going in a different direction.

Here's a thought - take the five teams I listed in my first post, add the 2020 Chiefs to the mix, and see if you can figure it out yourself. Some people, like myself, actually use their brain and do their own research. Some people, like yourself, like to whine on constantly. Stop whining and start researching.

YOU are the one who posted the 5-0, once every 10+ year top secret, classifed, KGB-FBI-Mossad system, and will not reveal the system, now you tell people to do their own research. Hilarious.

Pats fan here. When the Pats were huge underdogs to the Rams in New Orleans there were many tickets available. I asked my husband, "why don't we go to this game?". He said, "don't you want to go to a game where your team has a chance of winning?". Well, that was the LAST time I listened to him.... I am a believer in TB 12 and the Bucs. Good luck to everyone!!!

when Ty Law said this is a business trip on the sets of the state house, it erased any doubts I might have had about losing to the Rams.

This is the game where a NE employee stayed in the stands with a camera during Ram practices.

The camera incident made it out in the public later but was smoothed over, the NFL covered it up to protect the brand. ESPN et al cooperated, let it go.

WRs Issac Bruce and Torrey Holt both were in the local paper the week after the game saying when they lined up the NE safeties were whispering the plays to the rest of the Pats defense, using exact Ram nomenclature, everything. The article was scrubbed and the great Rams WRs were told to STFU for the good of the NFL. Yes, this happened, I saw the actual article, and talked to a Ram player or three in later years.
