Yup......I was at a friends bar Saturday, he has a lottery machine where you can play keno & virtual sports betting......the virtual sports hasn't started yet, but people were buying their keno tickets as I sat there laughing. People are freaking crazy playing keno every 4 minutes. He gas the huge TV in there showing the drawings. Pa lawmakers are greedy, hence the $10 million license fee & 36% tax rate.

Parx Casino Already Staffing Up For Online Gaming Launch

Parx Casino is moving forward at full speed to launch regulated PA online gaming.

Last week, Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, the owner of Parx Casino, was the first to apply for an interactive gaming license in Pennsylvania.

Now, they are bringing on the talent to make it happen.

On Wednesday, Parx announced there is a new member of their management team. Its new Senior Vice President of Interactive Gaming & Sports, Matthew Cullen, will drive the efforts to bring online casino gaming and sports betting to Pennsylvanians.

“Matthew is joining the Parx Casino team at a very exciting time for our company. With online gaming and sports betting on the near horizon, Parx Casino is perfectly positioned to offer our guests the absolute best gaming and entertainment experience anywhere in the region,” said Chief Technology Officer John Dixon in a press release.

Matthew'sunique professional pedigree of online gaming, corporate development, marketing, product and business strategy, and digital technology, makes him an ideal person to lead our expanding business footprint.”

Cullen brings 25 years of experience in online gaming and digital media to Parx. Previously, he served as CEO of San Manuel Digital, President of RocketPlay now PlayAGS (AGS), and Vice President of US New Ventures Paddy Power Betfair.

Parx partnering with GAN to launch online gambling
Earlier this week, GAN confirmed an expansion to its partnership with Parx Casino. Greenwood Gaming filed a petition with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) naming GAN as their online gaming platform.

The is not the first time, Parx and GAN worked together. In March 2015, Parx launched freeplay gaming on GAN’s platform. The social gaming site will remain available once real-money iGaming launches.

One of the benefits of the Parx – GAN relationship is the ability to link the land-based casino’s reward program with a player’s online account.

GAN’s US-patented technology is attractive to players. They can earn rewards both online and on-property and redeem them for cash online or special offers on site. This type of differentiation between online casinos is very important in what is expected to be a crowded Pennsylvania online gambling market.

GAN has 15 years experience in providing real-money and simulated-gaming software services to the internet gaming industry. Most recently, it partnered with Ocean Resort Casino to launch of its new online casino in New Jersey.

John Dixon, CTO of Greenwood Entertainment & Racing, Inc commented to MarketWatch:

“GAN has demonstrated its Regulated Gaming capability in New Jersey and the merits of integrating with a casino management system. Parx Casino will have the opportunity to launch Regulated Gaming in Pennsylvania later this year, subject to the regulatory approval of the PGCB.”

9 PA casinos apply for regulated gaming licenses

The initial round of the application process offered a discounted license fees of $10 million for casinos seeking to provide online slots, online table games, and online poker. Nine of Pennsylvania’s 13 casinos took advantage of the discount:

Parx
Stadium Casino
Mount Airy
Sands Bethlehem
Hollywood Casino
Valley Forge
Harrah’s Philadelphia
Rivers Casino
Sugarhouse Casino

The four remaining casinos can pay $4 million for individual licenses in each of the three categories. Those casinos are:

Meadows Casino
Mohegan Sun Pocono
Presque Isle Downs
Lady Luck Nemacolin

The first to market in the Pennsylvania regulated gaming industry is vital to becoming a leader in the space. Parx is taking all the steps it needs to ensure it is ready to launch on day one. Partnering with GAN and bringing top talent on board gives the casino a good head start.

I just want to know about sports betting live or online, not slots, table games and poker.I thought all this was to get sports betting in casinos with sportsbooks designed and set up.I don't hear or read anything about sports betting other than 2 New Jersey casinos which have sportsbooks already.I am losing faith in this whole operation and i might as well wait 5 more years til they get it in gear

I know how you feel, but online casinos is where the money is gonna be at for Pa & every other state compared to sports betting......the taxes made off online casinos is huge compared to sports.

I was reading an article a few days ago stating that the latest Pa will be putting in sports betting is early 2019. So IMO, I don't think we will get sports betting in Pa the earliest being Oct or Nov, & the latest being around NFL playoffs or SB.

My cousin said the same thing, but its not possible unless you physically live in NJ. I believe you have to show ID & show you're a NJ citizen. Maybe a few years from now the states will open up to outside players, but don't see it happening any time soon.

I'm gonna drive down to Delaware several times this season, but will mainly stick with local guys.

SPORTS BETTING IN TIME FOR FOOTBALL

The introduction of state-regulated sports betting provides another new opportunity for Penn. Wilmott said the group will open sportsbooks in at least two markets before football season, barely a month away.

“During the second quarter the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Federal ban on sports betting. We anticipate accepting wagers on sporting events at our casinos in Mississippi, West Virginia, and potentially Pennsylvania, prior to the start of the National Football League’s season opener in September.”

Mississippi and West Virginia are both on track to issue their first sports betting licenses in the coming weeks.

Pennsylvania may drag behind, likely looking at a launch closer to the holiday season. The 36-percent tax makes the market relatively unattractive, but Penn’s home state is certainly on its radar. PA sports betting licenses are available for $10 million.

Wilmott told investors that Penn is actively working to shape online gambling and sports betting legislation in other states, too. In the future, it would prefer the more operator-friendly framework in place in West Virginia, for example.

Yes, but what those cretins have to remember is that by offering sports betting you will bring people into the casino that may otherwise not come at all. Sports bettors may partake in other casino games as well.

Agree with everything you've stated........everyone I know that bets sports will eat at the casino & if they win betting sports, will give it back playing table games.

Very few have the control to stay away from table games.

But Pa is taking their good ole time getting sports betting up & running. The IGaming manager at Hollywood casino stated the big money is mobile/online sports betting.

I totally concur that the biggest volume and thus the biggest amount of profit is going to be in mobile/online sports betting. You can't beat the sheer convenience of it. The same goof who may only frequent the physical sports book once or twice a week may bet almost every day if he can get down online. Therefore, slow-witted PA should be showing a whole lot more urgency getting that up and running. The state deficit grows larger by the day.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board opened up applications for sports betting on July 11 but has not received any applications yet, McGarvey said.

Pennsylvania’s top-grossing casino has indicated that it plans to enter the PA sports betting market.

PA’s 13 casino license holders have been able to apply for a license to operate sportsbooks since the end of May. The licenses allow for sportsbook operations both online and inside the casino.

“We’re being used to deploy on-property sports betting as well as online, to be made available to on-property patrons on self-serve kiosks/tablets, deployed on-property, as well as traditional retail over the counter services.”

“Patrons will have a single ‘Parx Account’ on the GAN platform to deposit/withdraw funds from, which can be used for retail sports betting, internet sports betting as well as internet gaming. The concept is to reduce anonymous cash-only sports betting on-property as much as possible, and to drive sports betting patrons to open their ‘Parx Account’ to maximize all-important cross-sell to online sports/casino.”

No data service provider has been named. However, GAN officials have indicated its deal with Parx includes a share in both retail and online sports betting revenue.

Parx says sports betting will launch before the end of 2018. This despite the fact the state’s Gaming Board has yet to announce any sports betting license applicants. The board is still designing regulations to govern sports betting in the state.

I live on the other side of the state but maybe once PARX cranks it up it will put the squeeze on these other casinos to do something. Also, I should be able to open an online account with PARX as long as I am in PA.

Yeah, I'm about 1.5 hours away from Parx, but anyone living anywhere in Pa can open up a Parx account & play online from anywhere within the borders of Pa.

Mount Airy Casino Resort is making moves.

The casino that managed to get a law-protected buffer from satellite casinos as well as satellite casino — Mount Airy Pittsburgh — has now announced it will partner with The Stars Group to offer online sports betting and an online casino, pending licensing approvals from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

“Offering internet sports wagering and gaming and partnering with The Stars Group is the obvious next step for us to continue diversifying our casino offerings,” Mount Airy Vice President of Marketing and Gaming Operations Vincent Jordan said in a press release. “Introducing internet gaming through The Stars Group will provide compelling opportunities for our customers, particularly our younger customers, who are ready to experience the next gaming challenge.”

According to multiple reports, PokerStars, one of The Stars Group’s companies, will run Mount Airy’s online casino, online sports betting, and online poker.

Details of potenital Mount Airy online offerings

The press release from Mount Airy and The Stars Group did not go into detail about what their online platform would look like.

However, they did provide a somewhat basic framework of what could be ahead:

Single account

Common wallet between casino, sports betting and poker platforms

Multiple deposit and withdrawal options

“Seamless offering of betting and gaming options”

The Stars Group’s reputation certainly warrants that their product will be excellent, as their multiple brands include respected names like PokerStars, Full Tilt and BetStars.

The group’s announcement earlier this week is the second time this month they’ve made news. On Aug. 1, they announced that BetStars won approval for a sports betting license through Resorts Casino in Atlantic City.

Mount Airy second in PA to announce online gambling, sports betting

In mid-July, Parx Casino announced its partnership with online operator GAN, a well-known company whose relationship with Parx goes all the way back to 2015.

The partnership broke what was a somewhat awkward silence during a period of time when the online gambling community wondered when the PGCB would get applications for online sports betting.

It certainly made sense that Parx, the perennial revenue champion in the state, led the way with the first online sports-betting and online casino partnership; the first in the history of the state, to be exact.

That it took some time for casinos to petition for sports betting and online casino licenses led many to wonder if the state’s tax rate for sports betting — 36 percent — was scaring off casinos.

While the rate is more than four times as high as neighboring New Jersey, it did not deter Parx and Mount Airy. High taxes or not, online gambling presents a revenue opportunity, an opportunity that at least two casinos are happy to embrace.

PA Gaming Control Board Expected to Approve Sports Betting Regulations

Ten months after creating a law to legalize sports betting in Pennsylvania, the state is on the cusp of having general regulations for sports betting approved. The state’s gaming control board is expected to vote on regulations Wednesday at its regular meeting.

The regulations that will be reviewed and likely voted on will include what types of sports betting the board will allow and what will be prohibited, rules regarding the testing of systems that would be used for sports wagering, as well as compulsive and problem gambling issues.

The gaming control board rolled out temporary regulations in May. Those regulations were subject to a public-comment period, during which many stakeholders criticized the state for its high tax rate – Pennsylvania has a 34 percent state tax and a 2 percent local tax – and astronomical fees – the Keystone State requires a $10 million fee to get a sports betting license. In addition, colleges based in the state asked the state to reconsider its position on allowing bettors to bet on collegiate teams – like Penn State or the University of Pittsburgh – that are based within the state.

Pennsylvania missing NFL window on sports betting

Sports betting is teed up in Pennsylvania, but it won't be up and running for the Sept. 6 start of the National Football League season.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved a set of regulations Wednesday that agency officials say is sufficient to allow sports betting to start.

However, none of the owners of Pennsylvania's 12 licensed casinos have applied for a license and the gaming board doesn't meet again until Sept. 12.

Licensed casinos can pay $10 million to operate sports betting.

The U.S. Supreme Court in May struck down a law that bars gambling on football, basketball, baseball and other sports in most states.

Pennsylvania lawmakers prospectively legalized sports betting last October and slapped a 34 percent tax rate on it.

So this will drag on for months.

[h=1]Pa.'s sports betting rules come into clearer focus; timeline suggests middle of football season launch[/h]

The rules make clear that bets can be taken either on-site at the participating casinos, or through on-line platforms that they operate.
The sports books will be permitted to open, however, only after PGCB has approved plans outlining how they will record transactions, manage player accounts, and verify the age, identity and - in the case of on-line players - location of the bettors.

O'Toole said Wednesday that he doubts his staff could complete a review of any sports betting application received now in time for board action at its Sept. 12 meeting.
The next scheduled meeting after that is Oct. 3, meaning none of the Pennsylvania sports books will be up and running until the heart of the upcoming football season.
