I have just one small loan lent out at prosper right now. Have not decieded if I want to to this full scale. There are a bunch of bad loans being funded over there right now, and this loan does not even make prospers low standards.

What is there to not believe? What do you think he is lying about? This guy has lots of credit accounts, most of which are current, but have had some delinquencies along the way. If this guy had 10k to payoff some of these accounts then his score would increase at least 100 points.

So you would respect him better if he was willing to pay 30% in interest? At least this guy sounds like he intends to pay back the loan or he wouldn't care about interest rates.
I believe in the concept of Prosper, but they have a long ways to go as far as establishing a good business foundation. I had decided a couple months back that I was not going to lend there until they work out their growing pains.

I was + money for the last 30 days, so that could not be the reason.
Yes prosper does have issues. One of them is allowing any joeshmo under the sun get a loan.
But even with there loose standards they would not allow this guy to get a loan. That should tell you something.
You can loan out money to someone with C credit at prosper for 15%. But yet you are going to lend someone with bad credit, who on the open market would not even get a loan for less than 28% if lucky?

I haven't read this entire thread, but I will give the kid a break. A lot of college kids do stupid shit with credit and going in to get a bank loan is difficult when you are in college and have no credit.

If you (or anyone else) loans him the money you should take security for the debt. Anything, but the most likely security would be his car, some security is better than none. if he is genuine in this request he will do it.

he does have a recent loan taken out July 1 from a company called cashcall on his credit report.
I thought that was kind of coincidental that you would post this. I bet it is the same company. It looks like this guy has exhausted all of his options which explains why he posted. I do feel bad for this guy, but he needs to put a clamp on his spending
