Yesterday, Nova, who many thought would become a integral piece to a pitching puzzle, that would perhaps aid the Yankees in their quest to win a Division Title or anything else beyond a early vacation this season, were once again dampened by Nova's less than poor pitching performance yesterday. Nova pitched 5 innings and gave up 7 runs even though once again, the Yankee offense bailed Nova and themselves out and outscored their opponents.
This season is getting down to either do it or don't, and Nova, Phil Hughes (a real head case), and Colon, perhaps the most inconsistent of the three when closely examined, are going to make it virtually tough for the Yankees to go far in post season play this season.
The Yankee bats keep the drive alive, and should Yankee hitters go into ANY kind of collective slump, the Yankees will be virtually out of the running this year AGAIN!
Its too bad the Yankees can't play all their games at home, where their true advantage lies, with that stadium built to suit Yankee hitters. Sabathia who is the pitching staff all in one, is getting handsomely paid and derservedly so, and deep down knows he has to virtually win every time out if the Yankees are to move forward.
Maybe the Yankee brass will start getting their bankroll ready to start buying some new starters for next year. If "George" was still around, this may have all been avoided!
