GD I feel for you Brother :suomi:

Was in the Hotel Business for over 10 Yrs when I was younger :lolBIG:

First off
GD AND the RX has gone above and beyond to accommodate us freaks. And I would bet the answer OldmanTed got when he Cxl'd the Resv. was the standard reply given from the average Resv agent.
If i'm not wrong the block was for 140 and that is what RX will get.

BigTex nailed it..... "There is no reason for anyone that really wants to go to the Bash to wait this long to reserve a room. There was no deposit required other than a CC# that was not going to be charged, with the standard 48 hr cancellation notice that most hotels require it was a no brainer. "

BTW All Hotels overbook whenever they can GTD

You would lose that bet. I got the word directly from Denise that once I cancelled my room, it would no longer be available to the RX block and it was, in fact, already gone once I was given the cancellation confirmation. Had I known that, I would not have cancelled my reservation. I did so to free up a room for an RX member and now someone else has that room. Essentially, by me cancelling the number of rooms booked as a block is now 139 or less depending on if any other RXers cancelled as I did. If GD wants to follow up with Denise he may do so as I gave her my poster name and actual name and told her I was a moderator here at the RX. She will remember the conversation I am quite sure.

OMT, I hope there was another reason you cancelled your reservation other than wanting another RXer to have the chance to go. We all know that you are way too kind, but this goes above and beyond. Hopefully you'll still be at the bash.

I agree with the camp that thinks everyone had penty of time to book their rooms if they seriously wanted to go to attend. I really don't think that the RX needs to find a 'solution'. They are kind enough to pay for 140 rooms, and have let us know about it for like 4 months.

Thanks again to the RX and GD for hooking us up.

Green Doderman, if someone did not book their room by now, then they do not deserve a free room. That is just my thought. This is taking too much of your time as it is

Just to make one last clarification. I agree that there was plenty of time to make a reservation. I made mine months ago. What has happened in this case is that there was a deadline tied to the block of rooms sometime in July. I do not know that actual date. Once that deadline occured, the Imperial Palace would not accept anymore reservations to the RX block and they have maintained that position throughout. Shortly after reading this thread by Wil and knowing that in recent days many RXers have been wanting to attend and that this thread implied by cancelling that could free up a room in the block, I cancelled. Unfortunately, the deadline is the main criteria and not the block of rooms so my cancellation helped no one except a stranger and not an RX member. A very unfortunate misunderstanding. Denise was very clear in telling me that no additional reservation to the block can be made now that the deadline has passed. Any cancellations go on the open market and Friday, August 18th is showing the hotel fully booked.

I am trying to get a few extra rooms. As it stands right now only one poster has emailed me about an extra room. I will post later today regarding any extra rooms.

SkinsRaj no there was not any thread warning posters that there was a room reservation deadline - Ted's post is the first I heard of it.. Happy now..

Ted please email me later when you get a chance.

Thanks, wil.

I'm not going to belabor this but have to say a couple things. I never saw a deadline circulated at all. Also, 3 weeks+ before the bash is not 'the last minute' for room reservations. Deadlines aren't worth much if those they effect are unaware of them as only the IP(Denise) and maybe somebody in charge at the Rx are the only ones that know of them. IP's whole manner in not refilling the cancelled reservations for other RXers seems pretty draconian and not consumer friendly at all. Iwas planning to stay the rest of the week there so it isn't just that i'm trying to grab the 2 free rooms and scram. I did schedule this trip(air fare just prior to trying to make a reservation) totally around the Bash so staying somewhere else seems kind of odd.
Thanks Skins and OMT. I really appreciate the terrific good will on your parts. If I don't see you at Bash , I hope to thank you in person some time soon.

Bulldog why not send me an email at wilheim@therx.com and I will be glad to do my very best to get you a comped room at the Bash..

I need your real name in order to get the room for you...

Like I said above there never was any time deadline that either myself or anyone else at The Rx. (that I know of) was aware of for rooms...I never posted that you have to get your rooms by a certain date. The entire no more rooms thing took me by surprise..As did Oldmanted's post about not being able to use cancellations for other Rxers. I was unable to reach Denise yesterday but will do so today (she is on Pacific time)..

Thanks, wil..

I wonder what kind of room rate the Rx is getting? If the posters here put in 1/10 of the action they claim online, then I would think the rooms would be free. It doesn't take that much action to get free rooms at the IP

Posters that get IP casino cards will be rated and I think some may have their rooms comped but not very many (at least in the past) give that much action to a single casino.. Maybe this year will be different..

I am pretty sure The Rx. pays an amount close to what the casino rate is per room..Multiply that times 140 and it gets pretty expensive..

If we get a comp card and get rated while we are there, will we save the RX some cabbage?
I know this is a chunk of money for this site to spend. Not to mention all the free food and booze and broads. I will do my part.

it will be great to meet you and the crew Wil.

Wasn't trying to be a deuchebag, Wil...just making a point that people might not have been aware of the deadline. I certainly wasn't and frankly, I just lucked out. I know it's a privilege to attend the Bash and not some god-given right, and I know that the RX and the IP have gone above and beyond in this situation. I've stated that before. But that doesn't mean I can't disagree with IP policy in this particular situation.

At any rate, I hope everything works out for all parties involved. Thanks again to everyone involved for all their hard work.

Sad to hear Ted won't attend, at least it sounds like he wont. Seems to me plenty of opportunity existed to book rooms in advance, not like you had to pay a cent to do it. If any folks plan to attend and are the type to give appropriate action you'll get comped anywhere, this isn't New Year's eve.

Everyone is talking about a deadline. I am not sure that there was a written deadline anyway. But we filled up the 125 rooms, then they addes 25 more and we filled those up! No need for a deadline when you fill up all of the available rooms that were given to the RX
