after my 'delightful' stay at the Rio I can tell you one thing

buy their stock, they SUCK, their service sucks, only thing that is yet to happen to me here is to get mugged by any of their employees ..........

I would buy Harrahs stock, there is no way in hell that they wont turn impressive numbers (at the cost of screwing up people that stay with them.......)

Seriously , I INTEND to buy their stock

I am one of the most relaxed people ever ......hell I am from Costa Rica, I am used to everything

but from Sunday at 4 am till the time where I am writing this.........I can count no less than 6 incidents of plain incompetence that (surprise!) always result in more profit for this company and/or a pissed off customer

GD is a great guy and I hope the bash goes perfect but try to stay away from Harrahs (Except for their stock)

Wolfie,
Sorry to hear about your stay. Unfortunately, in today's "corporate" Vegas it is becoming all too common for profits to come before customer service.
I think one of the reasons the Rx chose the IP is because they knew they had a veteran poster here in me who would do everything I could to make sure all reasonable requests were accommodated. I realize in a huge hotel and with a large group not everyone is going to be happy, but believe me the last thing I want is for there to be problems and embarrass myself amongst a good group of people.

Here's the deal and I hope I don't get in trouble for saying too much.

Originally, the Rx and IP agreed to reserve 125 rooms for the group.
Someone in reservations took it upon themselves to up that number without asking myself, Denise, or the Rx.

Once those rooms sold out, that was it. No more free rooms. Many of you had ample time, but if you waited until they sold out were out of luck.

I will go out of my way to get someone a room if they want one. However, I cannot comp rooms, Denise cannot comp rooms, and the Rx cannot comp any more rooms. If you have a player's card or a race and sports book card, I can certainly get you a casino rate.

If you have no record of play at the IP, you can get a regular rate and we can deduct any comps you have coming to you on the basis of your play.

Keep in mind, this is a business for all parties the IP, it's parent company Harrah's, and the Rx. I'm sure myself and the Rx like every one of you, but that does not mean we will give you something for nothing.

If anyone needs accommodations and is still getting the run-around, please contact me directly at poker@imperialpalace.com. Leave a number to get a hold of you, and I will see what I can do as far as getting you the cheapest rate available. All of the free rooms are gone, but if you procrastinated we still want you to come at the best price for you.

Best wishes and looking forward to seeing everyone,
GD

Thanks for all of the work GD. People had plenty of time to book their rooms. Drunken Horseplayer, I received an email today from Ballys with the $65.00 room rate as long as you book by July 31st and stay before September 30

That is exactly what the thinking was when the discussion about a site for the 2006 Bash came up early this year.

As far as posters who have made reservations but cannot make it goes - I guess it will not help us get new rooms if you cancel...Sorry for the mix-up...

Thanks to Green Doberman for offering to help anyone without a room at this point..

Honestly, 140 rooms is WAYY more than what could be expected of Doberman. At other casinos, we probably would not have received that many.

This is a tough situation for the RX. They need to find a good solution for next year as after the shortage this year, it will be even more common in the future for folks to book rooms in case they end up going. Not sure about a solution without thinking about if for a bit, but there has to be a fair, reasonable one to ensure the most RX'ers get rooms as possible as was intended.

Well if people dont show up, wont their credit cards be charged?? Unless they used bogus credit card info in reserving the rooms, which is also possible

only way to make it work is to reserve 150 rooms.

tell people here its first come , first serve .

and close the booking process 2 weeks in advance of the trip. and their is a penalty if you no show. your card will be charged a certain amount.

gives IP time to fill the ones not used..

No. You can cancel your reservation at no cost so long as you do so within 48 hours of your intended arrival, if I remember correctly.

I don't understand why other RX posters wouldn't be given rooms that other posters cancel on. Don't understand that at all.

No.. No shows will not be charged..

Last year we ended up paying for 87 rooms so to be safe we set the bar at 125 reserved rooms this year and ended up going 15 rooms over that.

Personally I am fairly certain that we will get at least 10% no shows (10 to 15 rooms unused)... I was thinking that maybe some of the potential no shows that actually know they have a reserved rooms could cancel and let some other Rxer have that room but it looks like the reservation procedures at the IP will not allow that..

As of right now I have only had one poster email me looking for a room...

For the record The Rx. is paying for all rooms is is still willing to add a few for late comers if there are any available.. I will be contacting Denise Gemma tomorrow to discuss the matter..

IP(Harrah's that is so what do you expect) should be happy to fill up the rooms at least to the level of the 125 agreed on when some cancel. Its August for godsakes, which(along with decmeber) is the slowest part of year in LV. Plus, the typical Rxer is just whoI would want staying in my hotel/casino. We will put nice action in play.
Their whole reaction smacks of Harrah's reputation as a chain to avoid.
I understand late comers being shut out. I didn't realize there was such an imminent deadline or I would have booked earlier. My habit of booking about ten days before coming to LV has worked fine in past but this is a special deal with the rx paying for 2 nights so thats on me. However, the IP not allowing to re-fill to their agreed upon max makes them a bad canidate for future bashes. Its ludicrous for them to say they need the rooms. A deal is a deal.

Bulldog,
I think you are overreacting just a little. The Rx is taking care of these rooms, the fact you waited until the last minute to try and get a room in a set block of rooms is not anyone else's fault. Many people have offered to help you get a room, and still will. If you would take the time to try and get it resolved we would all be happy to see you in Vegas.:103631605

GD, I have nothing but respect for you, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on this issue. I can understand Bulldog's frustration and don't think he's overreacting a bit.

The fact remains that there was no advanced notice given to the posters about a deadline for making reservations. If there was, somebody please point it out to me because I've never seen it.

If I had called a day later to make my reservations, I'd be in the same boat as Bulldog. I was lucky enough to get time to call that particular afternoon and just decided to get it over with...and as for waiting till the last minute, it's still a few weeks away, so it's not THAT last minute.

If the problem was simply that all of the allotted rooms had been reserved, then that'd be understandable...but apparently that wasn't the case here? Or at least it wasn't when Bulldog initially tried to reserve his room.

So I'd say that Bulldog's reaction to this matter is absolutely appropriate...a long-time poster who wants to attend the Bash but finds out he can't? That's gotta suck. A lot.

And this is by no means a knock on you, GD...I think I speak for all posters here when I say that we appreciate all of your hard work organizing the Bash at the IP.

Hopefully something can be done. GL Bulldog.

Obviously, I am not privy to every phone call that goes back and forth. That being said, a set number of rooms were allotted to the Rx. These were rooms purchased by the rx for its members. Once that number was reached, there were no more free rooms.
I think it is asking a bit much for the Rx to get even more free rooms for its members. They have been overly generous as it is.

As I stated, anyone who does not have a room I will do my best to get them a room at the most reasonable rate I can.

I'd start to make more room in my garage but it's full of "the sky is falling" crew.

I'm not giving up my room on the strip, even though we live here it's still a nice get away from the real world for a couple of nights.

There is no reason for anyone that really wants to go to the Bash to wait this long to reserve a room. There was no deposit required other than a CC# that was not going to be charged, with the standard 48 hr cancellation notice that most hotels require it was a no brainer.

You reserve the room and if it turns out you can't make it you cancel the room up to 2 days before arrival w/o penalty.

I remember plenty of times in several posts where i saw it mentioned that if you were going to reserve your room because they were almost all gone.

Just my 2 cents.

1) there should be a way for a poster to exchange the name on a reservation and allow another poster to have his room since the RX is paying for the room anyways. The IP wants to sell that room for $100+ a nite for fri. & sat. instead.

2) I would hope that Bulldog gets a comp room for those days.

3) Thanks to the RX, IP and of course Greendoberman who has been quite busy and it will only get bussier for him as the Bash approaches.:toast:

I hope this is not the case, I lobbied hard to get a decent rate for the Rx and to get rooms reserved. These are blocked for theRx.com patrons and only them. Chances are, the IP would get more than the going rate for these rooms if they freed them up. I am unaware of any Rx rooms in the block that would be freed up to the general public. I think the misunderstanding is that all of those rooms are sold and now people are trying to get rooms at the going rate. If any Rx rooms are given out to the general public, I will be pissed (but I doubt that is the case).

Alert!

I just cancelled my reservation expecting that the room would be available for an RX member. However, I was told afterwards that this is not the case. I was told the RX block of rooms was held for reservation through a certain date and that the room I cancelled immediately went on the open market and was gone immediately and not being held for RX members. In fact, I was told August 18th is completely sold out but August 19th is available at $129 per night and August 20th is $69 per night. I spoke with Denise directly.

GD I feel for you Brother :suomi:

Was in the Hotel Business for over 10 Yrs when I was younger :lolBIG:

First off
GD AND the RX has gone above and beyond to accommodate us freaks. And I would bet the answer OldmanTed got when he Cxl'd the Resv. was the standard reply given from the average Resv agent.
If i'm not wrong the block was for 140 and that is what RX will get.

BigTex nailed it..... "There is no reason for anyone that really wants to go to the Bash to wait this long to reserve a room. There was no deposit required other than a CC# that was not going to be charged, with the standard 48 hr cancellation notice that most hotels require it was a no brainer. "
