From a pure basketball ability perspective, I don't think there's a question that LeBron is better than MJ. LeBron coasts more on defense and doesn't convert on the foul line as well, but other than that he is pretty much better than MJ at everything. He's going to finish his career with more assists than Magic Johnson and more rebounds than Kareem.
One could argue that LeBron's greatest skill is his passing ability/court vision. You could make the case he is the best passer in the NBA. Yet even though he's a pass-first player, he's STILL about as good of a scorer as MJ.
His well-roundedness and ability to impact a game is greater than anything we've ever seen in this sport. Look at what has happened to my Cavaliers since LeBron left...look at the shit he has to play with over his career. He turns bottom-feeders into championship contenders. MJ never did that.

MJ made Pippen. I give credit for how great Pippen and the Bulls played but MJ made Pippen and those players better by dogging them and pushing them. Playing against the best in scrimmages will obviously make you better. Pippen knows that better than most.

Bonafide superstars? You think the Miami version of Chris Bosh and Cleveland version of Kevin Love were SUPERstars? Those guys didn't show up half the time in the finals. Chris Bosh had ZERO points in a Game 7, and LeBron still pulled it out for them. Wade and Kyrie were obviously closer, but even Wade was fading pretty hard the last 2-3 years of the Miami-LeBron era. Kyrie was definitely a stud, but to act like LeBron coming back didn't elevate his career is absurd. He was nowhere near the player he is now without LeBron.
And excellent role players? LOL. The guy was playing with someone who didn't know the score in a Finals game. LeBron was playing with absolute garbage last year, and STILL made the Finals.
Do you remember his first trip to the Finals. He was carrying ERIC SNOW and DONYELL MARSHALL, and turning those D-league players into starters in the NBA Finals. LeBron's teams fell off a cliff after he left, and they were instant Finals contenders when he was there.
He's about to make the Lakers a bonafide contender, despite being a poorly run organization in recent years and a shitty coach, without much help around him. LeBron has never had a first-class organization or tremendous coach to work with (Miami was better than Cleveland in this regard, but still not that good.)
