lebron has consistently defied expectations even with his failures
young lbj carrying a team to the finals that had no business being there multiple times
living up to the hype that he has had since high school
isn't just a generational talent but is also an exquisite athletic specimen
has produced at a consistently high level year after year with minimal injuries
i would say his playoff competition in the finals was superior as well.

Can’t be better than mike when you aren’t even better than Kobe

In a 5000 season simulation where they have = teammates, people are taking Kobe Bryant over LeBron James? They think the sum of success in that scenario would be better with the Kobe Bryant team?

There are non-crazed Laker fans that believe this?

Cognitive bias is very strong in people.

Lebron hates white people more than Jordon does

Jordan was always better. Only reason its debateable is because millenials drive the narrative anymore.

Magic Johnson is a comparable to Lebron

PREACH!

I find it comical that Lebron gets an automatic against Kobe who has won 5 rings with the same team. Kobe, just like Jordan has way more heart than Lebron.

I've tried teaching these Lebron supporters that Lebron is great. Nobody is denying that but losing so many times in the finals. Being taken out of certain huge games completely, being accused of quitting in a big game, jumping from team to team trying to better his chances, playing in a weak conference, having other superstars to help him and still complaining, his free throw issues, his lack of heart and killer instinct and so much more is the reason he can never be better than Jordan.

Jordan does NOT hate white people. He was merely expressing, (and admirably sincere confession in my opinion) how he grew up and his first experiences as a black kid. What he thought in the moment and his fears and misguided although perhaps warranted reservations about white people which he outgrew. He was a young black man growing up in rougher times. He was just expressing himself. If people want to spin that into him hating white people as an adult that's absurd. I've seen this guy interact with white people be it refs or players or coaches etc. He doesn't hate white people. But I'm sure mostly everybody understands that so I won't even bother with it.

JORDAN=GOAT.

All this talk from these kids about Lebron being the GOAT will die down once he retires and people aren't living in the moment.

That all sounds awesome and I'm not saying it couldn't be said on a ESPN TV show with 2 former players yelling nonsensical platitudes about stuff like "heart" and "killer instinct" and "clutch" but unfortunately we have advanced stats and LeBron is better than Kobe Bryant.

Accept that truth or out yourself as a fish. It's a simple choice.

I've said in other threads if I put my bias aside, I have to grudgingly admit that Lebron is better than Kobe but the debate is still there. It's a more valid debate than Lebron vs Jordan. I'm just saying I don't see why he automatically gets a pass over Kobe. It's a debate. Lebron wins but it's there.

Clutch and killer instinct etc matters when guys like Lebron completely vanish in a series where guys like Barrea in Dallas are going off lol. So don't talk stats. I know the stats but these things must be considered also. It's a major stain on Lebron's career when he got taken out of a series and even accused of quitting. These things have to be factored in or you don't know the definition of GOAT.

Kobe Bryant's had plenty of blemishes on his resume, people just forget them over time. And most of the stuff that you accuse LeBron James of doing, Kobe did before him.

If you wanna say LeBron is an annoying, passive aggressive, whiny, etc etc that's fine.

But we're on a gambling board and people should have some desire to find the right answer as far as what teams/players values are. And LeBron James is objectively better than him (atleast as objective as sports gets)

The debate will be there because of the FIVE rings with the same team and the fact that Kobe was never accused of quitting, shoots better free throws and doesn't need to constantly kick it out to avoid being fouled and having to hit free throws. And again, the fact that Kobe would never be accused of quitting. So yeah guys will debate that.

But yeah, again, I never said Kobe is better and I wouldn't argue it. So let's not start another debate within a debate lol. I'm not even arguing that but I hate admitting it. Still, all said and done Kobe's career from an overview will look better than Lebron cause of the 5 rings with the same team. These are just facts.

I'm telling you so many people are living in the moment right now thinking Lebron is the GOAT. Let the dust settle. Wait and see.

p.s I say it's a more valid debate because the argument of Lebron being better than Jordan is ludicrous to me.

I hate to burst your bubble but Kobe was accused of quitting when he didn't take a shot in the 2nd half of game 7 vs the Suns in 2006. I guess he forgot his "killer instinct" that night.

Quite the opposite. Phil was on his case about not shooting and getting his teammates involved more. Was that the game you are talking about? I can't quite recall right now. I do remember but he still went on to win 5 rings so it's all good. Despite the fact that the game 7 is a minor blemish on his fantastic career, nobody is ever going to argue Kobe's killer instinct and heart after his career is said and done so it's ok. Don't worry you didn't burst my bubble.

That was a fantastic series though. That Suns team was fun to watch.

When was LeBron ever the second best player on his team?

When was Jordan? We are talking about Jordan not Kobe. Kobe is just somebody I'm a huge fan of. I'm not going to argue he's better than Lebron. Don't bother steering the thread in that direction. No point. I won't argue it and I never did. I'm just saying guys are going to debate Kobe vs Lebron. They may not win but the debates are out there for the reasons I listed. Can't argue the fact that people are debating it out there.

He took 0 shots in the 2nd half of game 7 and you're saying the gameplan was for him to get his teammates involved more? Again, it's Kobe Bryant and he took 0 shots in the 2nd half of a game 7. He's had plenty of other blemishes in his career as well. I'm not going to rattle them all off though.

As far as "people are going to debate it", yeah people debate all kinds of dumb shit. LeBron is just better than him. I don't think people should always default to analytics/advanced stats/BPM and the like, but the gap between Kobe/LeBron is simply too big in these areas to ignore.
