Whatever happened to Bourbon Street?

Edit: I just searched and found out it was imploded and there is nothing scheduled to be built there.

Yes it was imploded in 2006 and is presently a vacant lot owned by Harrah's. Have you ever tried their Steak and Lobster ? Never mind.... You're still alive and well .... using the phrase very liberally :toast:

Stratosphere sucks, and if you walk one block north after dark, you might die. But it is very cool to go to the top during the day and take pictures. Ride the hot shot ride also.

From the article:

"After Toronto’s CN Tower, it is the tallest tower in the entire Western Hemisphere. How is that not f’ing cool?"

It's not cool when you have to pay $14 just to go to the top. That's not including the price of the food, merchandise or rides.

The article talks mostly about the tower and little about the dumpy, dirty rooms that are 1/4 mile (ok, I exaggerate) from the check-in desk.

Vegas Rex mentions Stratosphere often in his blogs since he lives near there and is a frequent visitor.
I've stayed there twice. My room wasn't dirty or dumpy.

Both times I was in the World Tower and the room looked like it was recently renovated.
Before they were renovated I'm sure they were dirty and crappy.

If I went to Vegas once a year and didn't rent a car I wouldn't waste my vacation time staying there but for me it's an ok place to stay for the price and I've stayed in far worse in Vegas.

If you have the stomach and enough cash in your wallet, you can soon take the thrill ride of your life.

The Stratosphere hotel in Las Vegas will soon offer guests its new SkyJump, where riders strap on a metal cable and dive over 800 feet from the top of the resort's tower.

Officials say those who take the challenge will reach speeds of more than 40 miles an hour and get a birds-eye view of the Las Vegas Strip.

The SkyJump is expected to cost more than three million dollars to build, and will be open to the public in April.

And be sure to stop at the ATM before you take the leap. Each SkyJump will cost you about 100 dollars.

5-team is reaching with the bumps, now !

Bumped in 2010, no response, try again 9 years later ?

I stayed at that place 2-3 times circa 1983-1985 when Bob the Pollock Stupak marketed as Vegas World and it was the ultimate in tacky space themed Vegas kvitch.

Part of your welcome packet at Vegas World was some special tokens for special ripoff machines.

I of course knew it was a scam going in, but worth the BS, when you are like 23, single living in San Diego, and Vegas is 5-6 hours away.

I don't know the crime situation back then, clueless Cali weekender back around 1984-1986. I didn't move there until 1989.

GDEN . I started buying the stock @ 9 bucks ( posted the Finance forum) . Great management team

When our Stratosphere renovations are complete, we will have remodeled 1,133 rooms, refreshed the interior and exterior of the property, provided guests with new premium food and beverage outlets and added attractive group meeting space. Our total budget for the Stratosphere renovations remains at $140 million, and is expected to be completed by mid-2021. http://www.goldenent.com/
