Fishhead...Whats Carl Jrs.?..a titty bar??

Instead of Hardees's on the East Coast, we have Carl's Jr on the West coast. It's the exact same thing but a different name for some reason.
But the burgers are the exact same things.

Also, the area behind the Strato is not bad. I've been to Vegas a trillion times and when you drive north on Las Vegas blvd past the Strato, it's not that bad at all. Even in the middle of the night. In fact, when you go to Vegas, you should just go out at that time because there's too much traffic before midnight 7 days a week.

MvB is correct......highest crime rate is right there.

HOWEVER, the area I mentioned above just north of downtown, is WAY WAY worse from a DANGEROUS point of view.

Not as much crime reported there, because even the POLICE are leary of that area after dusk.

REPEAT, DO NOT GO THERE AFTER DUSK!!!

If you do, plan on about a 20-30% chance of getting shot at or chased by a band of hoodlums...........I AM NOT JOKING HERE!

Fish, I am still laughing thinking that you found a bar or two in that area! The restaurant at the top of the Strat is very nice, but of course pricey. Still as good as any of the gourmet rooms in most casinos and you get that spectacular view. If you go up there or just up to the top of the tower, go up around 30 minutes before sunset and you will get some of the best views possible. Don't waste your money on the Paris Eiffel Tower, the view isn't even close to comparable to the Stratosphere. Gambling in there is quite good and if you are a big player there are few places in town that won't sweat big action too much, although that doesn't mean you can just drop in there and be a counter.

Sad they closed the poker room, used to be at times Bob Stupak would drop by and play famous name players head up. One day I dropped in and he was playing pot limit omaha for 300-600 blinds with Barry Johnston and Johnny Chan and there was a big crowd gathered around watching and this was before the WPT and the interest in poker.

Hotel intself is OK, but they keep marketing it as part of Strip which is bull. I understand why they want to be considered part of strip but North Strip stops at Sahara.

Carl's Jr. rules. When I was living out there, I ate it all the time.

Although the logo looks like Hardees, I don't remember Hardees ever having the Western Burger. The onion ring on the burger was also pretty weird.

Fatburger and In-n-Out Burger have completely put Carls Jr. on the backburner in popularity.

The best thing that can be said about the hotel is that it is two blocks from the Olympic Garden strip joint!

ddz, i booked my trip thru expedia when staying at the stratosphere for practically nothing. when i arrived it was midweek so i took a shot at an upgrade and asked for it

say something like this "the last time i was here the nice person at the front desk checked if their was an upgrade available and i was able to stay in a suite"

they put me in a suite with all the luxories and i had a great time.

i would give it a try.

They have a decent buffet.

Aronund 3-5 years ago, they had a terrific range of 100+% payback video poker and slot machines.

Made many trips during the week down there.

LOL!

Maybe saying it was "DECENT" was overrating it.

Allow me to change it to "TOLERABLE".

Sorry.

LOL!

even tolerable is pushing it.

I guess if you get the food the day it was cooked, It's probably better !!

When the wife and I were going in the line (obviously holding the plate one handed with the towel over our noses to kill the closed up musky smell there ), we dropped a fried shrimp and that bitch almost bounced high enough to land back in my plate.

I really thought it was almost comically bad..like the one in Chevy Chase's Vegas Vacation when they have the vats of yellow and green stuff with a beef and chicken name card on em. At least we got a laugh...and they are probably pissed cuz they are now 2 plates shy after we chunked them old ass bitches !

My vote for the ALL-TIME worst buffets in Vegas are the old VEGAS WORLD and the old CIRCUS CIRCUS one.

Getting ill just thinking about both of them.
