I guarantee you every kiss that was made on ESPN this weekend was calculated or planned or they wouldn't have had their girlfriends there. And every player has handlers/agents that are calculating their every move. That's the life of an NFL recruit. Especially one that was Defensive Player Of The Year in the best conference in college football. The only problem with him coming out before the NFL draft is of course the risk that he may go lower in the draft. But it is also somewhat of a risk for the NFL team drafting him, because now if he can't perform to expectations and gets cut, the blame will start rolling in that they cut him because he's gay. The Rams saved the NFL a big PR problem if the defensive player of the year hadn't been drafted., But they may now have a problem of their own if things don't work out. It shouldn't bee that way, but it is. Like I said, this is a much different game. Jackson Jeffcoat was named Defensive Player Of The Year in the Big 12 and wasn't even drafted. Which should tell everybody right there that this isn't "a gay thing"
Huh? You don't understand the significance of a gay draftee and his BF kissing on TV compared to some random QB and his GF?
There was 0% chance of this happening and it not becoming a big story. If Sam didn't want it to be a huge story, he shouldn't have kissed him. You said it is a shame for him that it got blownup like he had no idea that was gonna happen.
He knew it was going to happen and he will profit from it. However for his chances of making it in the NFL he would've been better served to draw little attention to himself. Not really much different than Tim Tebow on that level...Teams will putup with distractions from Terrell Owens in his prime, not from a 7th rd pick.
