I would put Elvis last in terms of musical talent. He didn't sing that well, didn't write his own songs, wasn't a very good musician. I'm not sure MJ played any instruments, but he did write his own music.

The question you asked was who is the most talented not who I like the most. So the answer to your question is billy Joel

Michael and it isn't close.

Its very close. Not to discount Jackson in the least but he had a lot of help and was the most brilliantly marketed performer in the history of earth

MJ in a class all by himself as an entertainer

Toss up between Billy and Elton for most talented musically. Give the nod to Elton. Better concert.

If I could see 1 in his prime, i'd see MJ. As long as I could hear him over the screaming idiots.

He was about 5 years old i think when the Jackson 5 became popular.

This certainly doesn't have anything to do with the topic , but , guys like Elvis , Elton John and Billy Joel had like a 1 in a million shot at even being discovered , while Michael Jackson was born at 3rd base with a family already in the business.

I havent voted yet as i'm undecided between Elton and Joel , although Elvis was my fav of that list.

i dont think michael was born at 3rd base.. if we wasnt born, that family would have done nothing. none of them could sing.. now on the other hand , janet was born at 3rd base.. and i'd like to cross home plate with her...

There will be only one Micheal Jackson....heads and shoulders above the rest...

Indeed.

I like Billy Joel's style of music, and somewhat Elton's better, but Michael's combined package of singing, dancing, music-writing, choreographing - blows the others away. And as others have said, it's not even close. And, I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone in the professional entertainment business that would give you a different answer.

Shit, Elton John couldn't even write his own lyrics.

I didn't mean that as a knock against MJ , all i meant by born at 3rd base is that he was born the son of a record producer and had siblings that had a vocal group and a record contract. As soon as he could talk and sing he joined the group.

He never had to spend time in the clubs and underground trying to get discovered.

...but i probably should have said born into the business rather than born at 3rd base ... didnt mean to 'dis in any way.

Wow this is amazing. I was just doing some research to see which of these 4 had/have performed the most live concerts and can't believe this (according to wiki answers) Elvis only did 3 concerts EVER outside the USA , and all 3 of those were in Canada.

You mean the 'ol boy never took 'See see Rider" to Tokyo or London ?

im surprised at the lack of respect for Elvis. He is only 2nd to MJ in terms of $$$ for dead celebs but yet people will claim because he did not write his own songs he should not be that respected. There is a lot more to being just a good songwriter. As for his voice ,not many had the range he had for country , gospel, r and r, blues. The only performer to be in all of these Halls of Fame. that should say it all.

Elvis Presley blows them all away The MAN could sing anything and make gold out of it.

The other 3 are great musicians and very talented. But none of them compare to Elvis Presley.
