here's hoping i do just half as good as what i did last year in Omaha. this will be my one thread for the entire baseball run thru omaha
I am going with 3 regional picks (For the record i like my Titans to win our regional - but NO WAY i am laying -800 so PASS at that price). i don't see a price for the Atlanta Regional (Ga. Tech the #1 seed and National #2 seed) but knowing how Tech gags in the post-season it will not shock me to see them lose the regional - maybe to South Carolina
Corvalis Regional: Oregon State -250: NOT sure how good they really are - but they are in a regional with 3 stiffs (UVA, St. John's and Ohio State) and the site advantage will also be HUGE for Corvalis is in the middle of nowhere - especially for 3 schools coming a LONG way away - the closest school to what amounts to Portland, Oregon - is Columbus, Ohio - and that has to be a few thousand miles away as is) and I can't see them losing to OSU in G1 and i am not sold on UVA or St. John's. Oregon State will win its first 2 games and set up a "we gotta win 1 - they gotta win 2" situation and Oregon State will not lose 2 in a row to the 3 stiffs in Corvalis
Long Beach Regional: USC +500: In every objective category out there - USC is the best team in this regional - not by much - but they are. what hurts is that Long Beach gets a "gimme" first game meaning they can - and probably will - rest their #1 starter and save him for G2 against the USC/Pepperidge Fram game winner while these 2 have to throw their #1 started in G1. i am not sure how much Pepperidge Farm left on the field last week in winning their Conf tourney while LB and USC rested. AT THIS PRICE - USC has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much value to pass up - and i won't.
Tempe Regional: Arizona State +150: The winner of this regional (hopefully) gets to come to Fullerton next week for the Super Regional. Coastal Carolina is the #1 seed here and ASU is #2 but i am convinced that ASU is every bit as good as "CC" especially in the heat of Tempe and i am not 100% convinced "CC" will beat UNLV in G1 friday. ASU coach Pat Murphy is a world class motherf****r and i would love to see him get beaten here. but realistically - he won't. he will choke NEXT round as is usually the case - NOT this one. i want to see Coastal Carolina "prove" it to me on the big stage - i don't think they can. ASU uses HFA to win the regional and have its season end @ Fullerton for what i believe would be the 3rd year in a row.
To recap my 3 regional picks are:
Corvalis Regional: Oregon State -250
Long Beach Regional: USC +500
Tempe Regional: Arizona State +150
