That’s not true. Ole Miss made a large commitment to NIL

NIL and the portal has changed the landscape. The days of stacking 5 star on 5 star are gone.
Don't argue with Serbone.. He knows more about Ole Miss than anyone else on the board.

College football and college basketball are complete cess pools. Character means nothing.

It is kind of crazy watching LSU fans get excited for this given Kiffin's track record. Do they realize what they are buying?
Very true.

I don't dispute the prestige of the LSU job, but Ole Miss was the ONLY school that took Kiffin in with open arms.

The town embraced him, even early on. He was the prodigal son. And he turns around and sticks it up their ass.

Is what it is...I don't think Pete Golding is a good hire, but he has earned the players respect so there's that.

End of the day....the NCAA needs to change this coaching hire shit show. Make Jan 1 the first day to contact coaches...or if a team is already eliminated with no bowl game ahead.

Lane Kiffin contract details: LSU coach gets seven-year, $91 million deal with extra incentivesm

When Lane Kiffin signed his contract to become the next coach of the LSU Tigers, he immediately vaulted into the top three highest-paid coaches in college football. Kiffin inked a seven-year deal worth $91 million that comes with the opportunity to earn more via incentives, according to records obtained by The Advocate.
Kiffin's contract pays him $13 million per year before incentives, and that is slightly less than what Kirby Smart makes at Georgia. Kiffin, Smart and Ohio State coach Ryan Day are the only three coaches making beyond $12 million, annually before incentives. Smart and Day are two of just three active coaches with national championships on their resume.
One of the escalators in Kiffin's contract, according to the Advocate, requires a raise to make him the highest-paid coach in the country if he wins a national championship.
Perhaps the most unique aspects of Kiffin's contract with LSU is that his new school will honor his postseason bonuses at Ole Miss. That means Kiffin could earn up to $1 million if the Rebels go on to win the national championship without him.
When it comes to buyout language, Kiffin would be owed 80% of his remaining contract if LSU fires him without cause. That money would be paid out in monthly installments throughout the remainder of the deal, and it includes no offset language if Kiffin were to get a job elsewhere.
At least three schools fought for Kiffin's services -- and he got paid like it. In 14 seasons at the college level, Kiffin compiled an overall record of 117-53. On Black Friday, Kiffin led Ole Miss to its first 11-win regular season and program history, which also likely sealed the team's first College Football Playoff berth.
With the playoff looming, Kiffin's messy exit from Oxford left the Rebels scrambling. Ole Miss elevated defensive coordinator Pete Golding to the role of permanent coach, and his staff will have a few weeks to prepare before competing for a national title.

The incentive should be $1 million per win not 13 million before a game is played?

After Ole Miss wins National championship, Lane can fly back to Mississippi and retire or resign with Ole Miss? This is all BS

Stoops gets a $40 million buyout? My guess is nobody hires Stoops, wait maybe Ole Miss will.....

A little surprised that Lane left.

Seemed like he became "likeable" at Ole Miss and content staying there as he was a coach in the SEC and having success. Although LSU is a better program with more resources than Ole Miss, Ole Miss seems like less of a pressure cooker where their fans would be happy with 9-10 win seasons and occasional CFP appearances while at LSU, its mandatory CFP appearances with occasional championships.

Always baffles me how a coach could leave a program to join 1 of their biggest rivals. Now he's known to the public as a coach who's just chasing the $$$$.

Lane left a very good program for an elite program. With that, here comes MUCH added pressure. He's in a better position to win a natty at LSU than Ole Miss but it still feels like finding a needle in a haystack.

If he was happy in Oxford, he should have stayed there. Would have been paid handsomely, have a lot less pressure, and would have been an all time legend at the school.

SO you say Kiffin has as much a chance to win the NCAA Championship at Mississippi as at LSU, which has won THREE in the last 20 yrs or so?

Yes or no?

I personally do not like Kiffin, but he is a top notch HC, he went to LSU win a championship, the money is not the issue. He has fire in his belly to win, Kelly had NONE.

(went fishing recently in Louisiana with a former 3 yr starting star OT for Mississippi, with some other SEC graduate friends from LSU, Auburn, and A&M sure, this is not that relevant but I have been following NCAA football for decades with these guys)

Mississippi will return to irrelevance soon enough.......
LSU is a better coaching job hands down if the goal is winning a natty
Great movie for a guy who was fired on a tarmac by USC with his team watching from the buses.....

Lane doesn't "owe" the NCAA or the schools administration shit. the players will transfer or get over it.

Great move, hope he flourishes

Jim Mora left UConn for Colorado St, that's right Colorado St, maybe he likes to ski. Butt Colorado St ain't going anywhere in any sport. I would understand if he moved to a power 4 conference, but Colorado St. He was set for life, now he's dead to me

Same thing I think about Kiffin. He's set for life, Mississippi worships him. He's got a great thing going. If he leaves for LSU, he can be back on the street in 3 years. If he leaves, fuck him too.
Tell us how u really feel @Willie99 😂….. don’t hold back buddy .
