isnt it odd if you notice, out of 4 employees here, that are avid ncaabb fans, all 4 of our favorite teams seem to be on the preverbial bubble...

I would say Dante has the best shot with Pitt
followed by Ken with ODU, then Fish with N. Iowa, followed closely by me with IU.....

Just seems odd that out of the 4 of us, none of our favorite teams are a lock as of now....

Would be funny to see all 4 of us make it, as well...See who goes the farthest, might have to make a friendly wager on it, if we all get in

Dont forget JMAN and the TERPS!

On the bubble also!

I am from the big city . . . Des Moines been there my whole life. Finishing up school at Iowa State and then I am off to vegas or around the area!

My dad grew up in Palmer, IA. I am sure you know where that is. I think it is pretty close to Fort Dodge.

I have heard some pretty bad stuff about the Dodge lately though? Do you know what I am talking about? I have a buddy that goes to Iowa central and he says he is pretty much a minority.

I am currently finishing up school at Iowa State also. Wonder if we've bumped into each other and never even knew it. What are you studying?

Thats really weird, 5 of us, and all on the bubble...

And if u want to throw Glaken in as well, he is Ga Tech, definite bubble team..

Damn, cant any of us root for a North Carolina, or Syracuse, someone who is definitely in....LOL

NIU played great defense with under two minutes left. Didn't fall into the trap of foul and shoot the three. Every team in the country should watch the tape of the last two minutes of a game to show how to play when behind. Great win for NIU. Wichita St.'s bubble burst big time.

Not really.............Wichita State still finishes 2nd in the MVC and that should be good enough to get them in the BIG DANCE.

It better, because I fully expect UNI to make it finishing in 3rd place.........tied with Creighton.

Creighton is playing great ball right now!

UNI
WICHITA STATE -5

Northern Iowa sports their 19-9 record and 44th RPI ranking into Wichita tonight in a make a break game for the Panthers.

A loss and they will be forced to win the MVC Tournament to earn a berth into the Big Dance.

A win and they wrap up 3rd place in the MVC and raise their RPI ranking a tad, which coupled with 1 or 2 MVC tourney wins, should enable them to earn a berth into the tourney in my estimation.

Fish, stop wasting your time backing No. Iowa and hoping they make it into the tourney. Go Salukis!!!! :howdy:

As of right now, UNI deserves a berth in the Big Dance.

Still think they need to win a couple games in the conference tourney to secure their spot however.

The MVC tourney should be great.

I respectfully disagree. WSU has lost 5 of 6 now. Really bad to lose on the homecourt like this. If the MVC gets 2 (they should get at least 3, but this is not an honest selection process), it will be S. Illinois and NIU most likely. If I was any team besides S. Illinois, I'd try real hard to win that tourney and not leave it up to the selection committee.

I'm hoping I'm wrong here because I'd like to this conference get three or four, but those bids are going to the ACC because the process is biased.

Is this true?

Your telling me the committee can take a team that finishes 3rd in a conference over a team that finished 2nd?

Not sure if this is correct.

Can somebody clarify this?

Thanks,

Jacobson's last-gasp three-pointer pins loss on Wichita State.

<!-- STORY STARTS HERE -->Wichita, Kan. - There was no reason to believe Northern Iowa would make a run in the final two minutes against Wichita State on Monday.

The Panthers trailed by seven points with 1 minute 47 seconds to play, and that was the closest they'd been.

The Shockers had answered almost every Panther basket in the second half and led by double-digits for 15 minutes.

But Ben Jacobson didn't want Wichita State's seniors to close out their careers at home on a high-note, drilling a last-second three-pointer from 22 feet to give Northern Iowa a 67-66 win at Charles Koch Arena.

In the final five seconds, Eric Coleman took an inbound pass at midcourt and found Jacobson near the sideline. Jacobson took a dribble, pulled up and posed.

"We actually kind of ran it a little bit wrong," Jacobson said. "We weren't all in the right spots, but it all worked out."

Officials checked the TV monitors to make sure Jacobson was behind the line before ruling that he was.
