JG is under contract for next season so there is no rush to make a decision on the qb position in NE.

Brady is the only Pat that will get to go out on his terms. He will be a Pat next year.

This is a little hokey for analysis but I do wonder how much Belichick's ego will play a role in this resolution. Someone as competitive as him probably does want to prove he can do it without Brady and he isn't getting any younger either.

they lost at home by 16 with brissett to the bills then a few weeks later beat the bills on the road by 16 with brady.

no way they let jg walk away with that clown as the backup.

Wasn't Brissett playing with one thumb? In Week 4 of his rookie year?

Kinda early to judge him as a clown QB.

Jimmy G not playing that game doesn't help his longevity in NE

Brisset played with a cast on the thumb of his throwing hand, he had surgery to repair a torn thumb ligament a day or two after that loss

Now I'm not suggesting they'll let JG go, I'm just pointing out your criticism of JB is not entirely accurate

im willing to bet jg will be a member of the pats for a longer period of time going forward then tb will.

just name the amount and im game.

that's not the bet I'm making, I think JG is their long term future

you said one will be traded, and you said it will be TB. I said "bet"

you have said numerous times the Pats will trade TB, I never said the Pats will trade JG

now you're changing both our positions

I dont see how JG can be the future without Brady playing for someone else unless Brady falls off the cliff soon.

so do we have a bet or not?

If TB traded first you win, if JG traded first I win

If nobody traded before TB's retirement, push

The thing I would like to bet on is the disagreement I have with patsfanatic.

He thinks the pats are going to trade JG or let him walk.

You don't feel that way so there is not enough disagreement between me and you to make a bet.

My whole point is the pats are not going to let him walk and if that means TB has to leave then so be it.

But I can't read TBs mind .

Cant read JGs mind either.

Maybe TB wants to retire at the end of the season.

Maybe JG is willing to sit the bench another 3 years.

In both the above I would lose the bet.

My point is JG is not going anywhere . And I can be correct in that statement and still lose the bet under your conditions.

Much different then what patsfanatic believes

Will this trade cost the Browns their QB of the future or will Gunner still be there when they pick

However, the decision to trade Collins seems to go beyond just financial differences of opinion. Collins' production was down slightly this year (though it's worth noting that he's ranked as the ninth-best linebacker on Pro Football Focus). Collins has seen his snap count fall since Week 5, and it plummeted in Week 8 against the Bills, when he played just 62% of defensive snaps — he played 100% of defensive snaps in the first four weeks of the season.
Furthermore, he appeared to be bothering Patriots' coaches by doing what several in the NFL world have called "freelancing" on defense. Mike Lombardi, a former assistant for the Patriots, wrote on Twitter that during the Week 8 win over the Bills, Collins was doing "whatever he wants" on the field and hurting New England's defense.
Lombardi said on Bill Simmons' podcast on Monday that Collins' attitude made him a poor fit for the Patriots.
"The way he's played through the first eight games, he was getting demoted within each game," Lombardi said. "Yesterday, the second play of the game, he goes, he just kinda does whatever he was gonna do, he kinda played with no enthusiasm, and he seemed like he didn't really wanna play. ... And so I think, at some point, they had to send a message to the rest of the team."

If the Pats traded Brady to the Jets for a 7th rd pick Lombardi would probably say it was the right move, but I guess Collins just didn't wanna be there anymore if it was inevitable he wasn't gonna re-sign.
