If Pats know they will not resign him they got back a higher compensatory pick than they would've gotten had he walked in free agency. Browns pick will be the 1st comp pick at end of 3rd round where as Pats would be towards back of order.

Pats sent him somewhere where he will not come back to haunt them in postseason this year. He is a tremendous player but from a business standpoint they feel resigning Hightower, Butler, Sheard and Bennett to extensions brings a better overall value.

good point, the Browns 3rd round pick = the Pats typical 2nd round pick

I assume you're joking, but if you're serious I think we found something else to wager on

let me put it this way.
maybe he comes back next year but i will wager that jimmy g is not going anywhere.
jimmy g is the pats qb and he is a bigger priority then brady going forward.
if they can work it out where they both stay another season fine.

but if it comes down to 1 or the other that means brady will be playing for someone else next season.

that i will wager on

and we're the guys that know best :)

why? because he wins the most and wins the most consistently and has been doing such for an extended period of time

there's no better why than that

They've definitely been ahead of the curve in getting rid of guys for the most part, but a lot of times they were compensated well for it.

30 spots in the middle of the draft? Seems like be better off just keeping him and seeing what happens this year. Brady isn't gonna be around forever and you only get so many chances to win the superbowl.

Atleast that is what I would say all things being =.

But maybe he didn't wanna be on a team that he wouldn't be on much longer and it could've had effects on other intangibles so it just made sense before it became a distraction.

I don't think Jimmy is going anywhere either, I think he takes over for TB 12 when TB decides to retire, whenever that may be

I think TB comes back for 2017, if he wins one (or more) SB, he may retire after 2017. I think he wants one for the thumb.

Barring injury, it's 2016 and 2017 for sure and maybe 2018. But you never know, his desire can fade fast after he grabs the trophy from Roger while laughing in his face

OK, so if it's TB or JG, you say they choose JG. There can only be a winner or a loser if one is traded?

Bet, how much?

Jimmy G will not be their heir to Brady. If you want to even call it that. Brady still has years to go.
Jimmy be gone before Brady's gone. No sense on keeping him around for back up duties.

Most talented yeah. Don't think he was their best defensive player, at least not in their eyes.

It's definitely not a clear cut thing. Pretty subjective with 3-4 guys in the mix but he did stuff at LB in the NFL that not many guys can do.

Wouldn't have paid him regardless though. LB not really a premium position that you pay a guy as much as anyone in the league and as good as Collins is, it seems like he has a new ailment every other week.

Freakish talent level. Could cover just about anyone underneath and had a nose for the ball.
Dont think he has been the same player this year though. Not sure what's up with that.

That is probably the best way to do the bet without it becoming really convoluted.

Brady could get inj and the person could lose but it does take subjectivity like "Did Jimmy want to get traded?" or "Did the Pats want to deal him" out of the equation.

re post #33 (isn't letting me C&P my own post for some reason)

That type of bet also deviates from the spirit of the bet. What if Jimmy just sticks around as Brady's backup then takes over after? Then the Pats never chose JG over TB and Chop would win.

Less then 365 days after Peyton Manning had the greatest season in NFL history he fell off a cliff. And he fell hard.
This is 100% going to happen to Brady and it aint gonna be 5 years from. It probably wont even be 3 years from now. Heck it might not even be 3 weeks from now.
There is no warning when this happens. It just happens almost over night.
When father time says its over its over. There is no 2 week notice it just happens.

The Dolphins have been looking for a QB for over 20 years since Marino retired.

The Pats have a future elite franchise qb on the roster right now in JG and they are not about to let him get away from them at any cost.
Its just too hard to find someone of that caliber.
It could literally be a 20 year setback if they let him go.

The last thing they gonna let happen is Brady falling off the cliff and allowing this brissett guy implode the entire team.
That guy does not have "it".

JG does have "it"

And the only reason Brady is not dealing with a romo/presscott situation right now is because he got hurt.

He is not going anywhere. 0 chance.

It dont matter if another team is willing to trade 2 1st round picks for him.

And if the Pats are dumb enough to trade him for 2 1st round picks please sign me up as a saints fan.

I will gladly unload 2 1st for him if you are that dumb.

But the pats are not that dumb.

If they can find a way to let them both stay for another year or 2 fine.

but if they have to choose between the two its bye bye brady nice knowing you.

Heard this a few times now. "This" is the guy who will replace Brady.
You sound like Max Kellerman.

Ive
actually been saying this since the day they drafted him on this forum.
was super high on him coming out of college and said that many times in the past.
his play on the field has only solidified that belief.

If you want to go through 20 years of what miami has be my guest.

the guy is 40.

you gonna trade maybe one more year of greatness for for 12 years?

lucky for the pats you are not the gm.

not happening bro.

enjoy the final 24 games at most of the brady era in NE
