He did throw almost twice the TD passes as Aikman though, but I Always thought he was a bit overhyed as well. Put Peyton's number up next to either of them and you'll be shocked. Peyton has thrown about 130 more TD passes than Aikman did and Peyton has played in 12 less games so far.

John Elway overhyped?? Are you on heroin??? Here's a guy who took a basically mediocre team, with for the most part mediocre running backs, undersized mediocre defenses, and below average receivers to 5 Super Bowls. FIVE FRIGGIN SUPER BOWLS, and he won two of them. Do you understand the meaning of the word CLUTCH?? Do you understand the meaning if the term "BIG PLAY"?? John Elway is unquestionably the greatest QB to ever play the game of football. Anyone who calls him over rated or over hyped should get a 15 yard sports fan penalty and an automatic ejection.

Before someone gets too excited about the Titans 6-3 record, let's take a look at who they have beaten in their last 6 games. They have beaten the Last place Falcons, last place Texans, last place Raiders and the 4-5 Panthers that have lost their last 3 games. Not all that impressive IMHO

Dont argure with him. he gets pissed. Just because Vick can throw a mile but cant complete a 5 yard slant he has a great arm.

and you'r the type of person I'm talking about when I say overhyped. I would put Elway in the top 5 or 6 QB's ever, but #1 you can't be serious. Hell Tom Brady has won more super bowls with less talent and has way better stats. Guys we need to wake up and realize that we are watching 2 of the best ever right now. Brady and Manning are both amazing. and are both putting up stats that some of the past QB's have never even sniffed.

Oh you silly little youngsters.......

it seems that some people think that best talent = better recievers, when talking about which qbs had more to work with. not that elway had a ton there, and clearly brady didnt have a lot for several years, but that o-line infront of brady is as talented as anyone has had to work with. the guy could eat a sammich back there before he throws the ball. elway was the more talented player which doesnt mean a lot....but he was also just as good a qb, if not better. the guy could not only make throws that brady couldnt, but he did make them and he did so in big games. im no old fart, but i do know that. i also know brady wouldnt have more rings if not for the worst call in the history of the nfl. different players from different eras. id take elway, but i wouldnt say someone was wrong for taking brady. just a different taste....not necessarily a wrong one.

I'm not even saying I would take Brady over Elway. Is it really that erroneous when I say Elway is #5 or #6 all time. That still puts him as one of the best ever for gods sake. I'm not saying he wasn't good. Damm people. I just saying nobody seems to appreciate the fact that Manning and Brady are both great and will both be mentioned in the topic of best ever in 15 years from now. Can't we just enjoy the fact that Brady is doing something right now that has never been done by anybody ever. Elway was great and I know he's an icon, especially to people around 40 years old but I'll take Montana. And in another 5 years I'd propbably take Brady, when he might have another 2 or 3 rings.

lets also not forget that when Brady took over the Pats they were coming off a 5-11 season and were 0-2 in 2001. They ended that year 11-5 and won the super bowl. So its not like he just took over some great team. Again I'm not saying I would take Brady over Elway but look at the stats.

Elway
234 games played
300 TD's
226 Int's
79.9 QB rating
56.9 Comp %
2 super bowls

Brady
105 games played
180 TD's
82 INT's
92.2 QB rating
62.9 comp %
3 super bowls

Brady throws more TD's a game, less INT's a game and has one more super bowl win in 9 less years playing. On paper Brady kills elway in every single catogory, but 99.9% of all people asked would say Elway is way better. And again I would at this point say Elway was better but Brady is getting pretty close.

Fair enough...I was merely disputing the "less talent" aspect. And like mofome says....it ain't just about receivers. "The 3 amigos" were actually a pretty solid group or WR's. But overall, Elway had WAY less talent (as evidenced by the fact that they usually got blown out in the SB once Elway got them there)....OL, defense, RB & a shithead coach in Reeves.

Oh, and I'm only 36 :103631605

That will change with time. Same goes for Potato head Manning.

It's the same with the Elway/Montana argument. The reason I always say Elway is b/c I believe several of the top 10 all time QB's would have the same success with those 49er and NE teams. OTOH, I don't think the Broncos would have even sniffed the SB in the 80's were it not for JE. They were in the AFC championship game 4 out of 6 years from '86-'91.

History will ultimately say different but right now Tom Brady=Jim Kelly....good QB with a dynasty type franchise.

all I'm saying is take this year out and look at who Brady played with. When they won the super bowl in '01 the RB was A. Smith, the WR's and TE's were Troy Brown and something called redmond, patten and wiggins. Even the o-line didn't have big names on it with Andruzzi the exception. I think Terrell Davis, Ed McCaffrey, Rod Smith and Shannon Sharpe were much better than NE's group. But ya I would agree that Elway didn't have much to work with early in his career. He was great no doubt about it.
