Not much of a line change in Veggs for Nebraska/BYU. It may go from 5 1/2 to 6, but that is it.

Akron has a ton of of transfers, so who knows how that works out. OU -30 1/2 is the current line.

Bowling Green's entire season depends on how QB Matt Johnson, who was a star in 2013 but missed just about the entire season in 2014, and a new defense. Both must perform to have a shot at Tennessee. Tennessee -21 is the current line.

Online Nebraska has gone from -4.5 to -6 (after the news about the RB). If the BYU beat writers are to be believed that multiple defensive starters are going to be among the 10 suspended, it could go as high as 8 in my opinion.

If Mendenhall has any hope of catching the eye of the Big 12 or Pac 12, he had better be able to defeat the likes of Nebraska, who has a good team, but certainly not a great team. He knows this and with games against Boise State and then on the road to UCLA and Michigan, all of which are equal to, or better than Nebraska with the possible exception of Michigan, BYU has it's work cut out for themselves. 2-2 against those four teams is not going to cut it. BYU needs at least 3 wins to open some eyes. Next season BYU opens against Arizona in Phoenix, then goes to Utah and hosts UCLA. Three Pac 12 teams in a row. This season is the season to plant the seed, if BYU has any ideas or hopes of joining a Power 5 Conference, no matter how small those hopes are.

Most of OU's offensive problems last year is now coaching at Utah State. But the defensive problem is still here. If you go by the past, when Stoops back is against the wall he has always bounced back with good seasons. I hope that will be the case this year. As for this first game, Akron is a decent team by MAC standards. And if OU doesn't show much offensively, it will be a matter of if you think Akron can stop Perrine & company from running it up their gut all night. OU really doesn't have any trendy pattern for these kinds of first games. So it's hard to say. I kind of like Bowling Green better than Akron. I think Tennessee will definitely be looking ahead to OU. But they can't look ahead too much since BG is a very good MAC team.

agree...I don't think ou shows much against Akron....I wouldn't be surprised to see a lackluster game, just pounding the ball up the middle, then they come out and just beat tenn....

BYU goes to Landover in week 4 to play West Virginia. It is one of their easier games, because in addition to the three games against Pac 12 opponents they also go to Michigan State, Boise State, and Cincinnati, plus they still have two open dates.

Tough break for Arizona. They lose starting Center Carter Wood for the season due to leg injuries.

Tennessee starting LG Marcus Jackson may be lost for the entire season due to a torn bicep

Oregon RB Tyner (573 yds, 5 TD's last year) gone for this season. Auburn receiver D'haquille Williams, preseason ALL-SEC pick, remains suspended (was suspended for Outback Bowl last season). Williams rated as a highly likely 1st round NFL draft pick.

Tyner is likely gone from Oregon, didn't even make this years roster, he has pouted since he was a freshman not being featured RB.

Bad news in Knoxville:

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...starting-g-marcus-jackson-entire-2015-season/

Unfortunately for both the player and the football team, the speculation surrounding Tennessee’s Marcus Jackson is worse than initially feared.

A report surfaced Monday that Jackson had sustained an arm injury and would be sidelined for eight weeks or a little more. While the specific injury was correct, the timeline wasn’t as Butch Jones acknowledged Tuesday that the offensive lineman could miss the entire 2015 regular season.

The head coach added that the fifth-year senior could return for the very end of the regular season or the Vols’ bowl game should they qualify for one. This is Jackson’s final season of eligibility, meaning his career would be over if he never steps foot on the field again.

Jackson sustained the injury, believed to be a biceps tear, this past weekend. Regardless of the specifics, it’s a significant blow to the Vols’ line.

Last season, Jackson started all 12 games in which he played, missing only the Alabama game due to injury. All told, he’s started 17 games during his time in Knoxville, and was penciled in as UT’s starting left guard prior to the injury.

He was a Freshman All-American in 2011, and, as Wes Rucker explained, “took a healthy redshirt during the 2013 season in a move designed to help him and Vols in the long run.”

God I love this one from...who else, Jimbo Fisher at Florida State.

His star running back (Dalvin Cook) is suspended for knocking the hell out of a women. He's waiting to go to trial.

What does Jimbo do? FSU held its annual media day on Sunday and took two team pictures; one with Cook
and the other without him.

Woody Hayes, Bear Bryant are turning over in their graves. Jimbo Fisher is PUKE for Florida State...some now realize this.

For those keeping track of returning starters, SMU losses key OL for season:

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews...or-season-freshman-lb-medically-retires.html/

Also of note, new SMU coach Chad Morris (former Clemson OC) plans on playing some true freshman as the Ponies transition from the Run n' Shoot offense to the more modern Spread offense. Apparently there will be some freshman starters on D as well while they transition to a new 4-2-5 scheme:

Might want to take a wait and see approach with SMU, probably not a lot of line value fading them given last year's debacle. Maybe if they take their lumps early, could be a play on team in second half of the season.

There is a good reason that Morris is starting as many as 15 freshmen. June Jones was a lazy recruiter in his last few seasons, and Morris had absolutely no talent to work with when he got there. At least with recruiting the third ranked class in their conference in the short period he's been there, he at least has some talent to work with, as raw as it might be. Against Baylor I can see SMU running early and often to try and keep the score from getting WAY out of hand. It most likely will be a futile attempt and the students will be drinking early. But it still beats the run and shoot offense they had under Jones. Those are the kinds of offenses you get murdered in when you go up against much superior teams..

Yeah I kinda got the feeling old June wished he was back on the islands sipping Mai Tais, wearing Hawaiian shirts, without a care. Finally, he had enough of it and said F' it I'm out of here, ya'll are on your own.

I could see Baylor trying to pump up their rankings by thrashing these cupcakes they should be ashamed of scheduling such as SMU, LAMAR (WTF?), and Rice. I mean jeezus, they won't play anybody with a pulse until Novemver 5th trip to Manhattan. Talk about a back loaded schedule for sure.
