Let's get a list going of the returning starters who have been lost over the summer. I know Steele has a list of all players added or removed on his web site and this is what I got so far in terms of returning starters:

Clemson: OT Isaiah Battle, Starter- declared for NFL Supplemental Draft
Colorado: DT Josh Tupou, Projected starter; dismissed

Seems like it has been a relatively slow summer, but I probably have missed a few?

HaHaHaHaHaHa......."incarcerations." That's some funny shit. Yeah, you're missing a bunch, WR Pearson for Tennessee comes to mind right out the gate, suspended in April for becoming a suspect in some sexual assault, rape maybe, not sure. Knox county DA stated yesterday he's been removed from the suspect list but the school has yet to reinstate him. There's more if you're attempting to build a "library."

That does help indeed BDQ. Bad news for the Mormon faithful as BYU RB Jamaal Williams to miss season after withdrawing from school. This guy was a tough runner, although he did miss almost half the season last year but still lead the Cougs in rushing, just by a nose.

That is very important information. That, plus the fact that BYU opens in Nebraska, a team that has not lost a season opener in 29 years, makes a wager on BYU impossible. Watch the odds closely. At last check, the line was Neb -5 1/2 in Vegas.

There certainly has been a whole lotta love for BYU leading up to this season, not sure where its coming from but you can already see the obvious RLM on this game. Normally that would draw my interest, but I think this line is on the wrong side of 7 according to my numbers. Plus the fact that Nebraska has lost a home opener only once according to Sportsdatabase and that was to Fla St, a team on a much higher level than BYU. Maybe I'm too high on the Corn with a new head coach, might just have to watch this one from the sidelines.

You guys are missing one important point. Nebraska hasn't had this tough of a home opener since I can remember. They definitely haven't played any in the last 10 years. The toughest opponent they've faced in that time has been Wyoming. And they nearly lost that game two years ago. Maybe it's better to look at BYU's history in these openers or early games. All I can tell you is they have an uncanny way of covering the spread or pulling the upset..Like RLR said, these are grown ass men, and Mormons on top of that. No summer hangovers for these players...The Huskers better be ready to play.

This isn't a guy "missing" but Deshaun Watson, all-world QB for Clemson gonna play with a brace on that repaired knee this season, so ya know what the opposing D's will be gunning for and how's his mobility gonna be?

Guy is fairly accurate passer, but a big part of his game is/was scrambling/running. Doubt he'll be as effective doing that now. I'll be looking for spots to bet against them, many spots I hope.

I think your right about Watson. But this season it may be a matter of if Clemson's defense is good enough to stop opponents for Watson to see the field.

I haven't looked at the numbers, but for some reason, I remember most of my losses, LOL, and when Watson was out, Clemson was total garbage against the number. When he was in, they were an ATM if I recall. Not seeing much in the Charlotte Observer yet on the Tigers but it'll be coming and I'll post when intel available, but this knee is gonna be a wagering opportunity imo.

The biggest concerns are the intangibles. They've got a first year coach implementing a new system with new coaches and players, going up against a veteran coaching staff. You have to think there's going to be a little confusion on the sidelines somewhere along the way...I forgot about that OSU/Neb game.

You think they put the hammer down on Akron? It does appear to be somewhat of a look-ahead spot as I expect the Sooners to be dogs when they travel to Knoxville the following week.

Most of OU's offensive problems last year is now coaching at Utah State. But the defensive problem is still here. If you go by the past, when Stoops back is against the wall he has always bounced back with good seasons. I hope that will be the case this year. As for this first game, Akron is a decent team by MAC standards. And if OU doesn't show much offensively, it will be a matter of if you think Akron can stop Perrine & company from running it up their gut all night. OU really doesn't have any trendy pattern for these kinds of first games. So it's hard to say. I kind of like Bowling Green better than Akron. I think Tennessee will definitely be looking ahead to OU. But they can't look ahead too much since BG is a very good MAC team.
