I'll just go ahead and say it...I don't think Blake Griffin is as good as people think he is

He is the #1 scorer on a team thats won 70% of their games this year. And it isn't like this team is winning because of defense either. What are you even talking about? Boy you crazy!

Cipps have had great regular seasons for a few years now. Remind me of what they have done in the playoffs?

You can speak for 90% of the teams in the nba?

Also, there is no reason to throw in an insult into your argument. Huge pet peeve of mine. If your point is strong enough you don't need insults to back it up. Stick to the issue at hand

You don't think with the cap room to do so, 90% of the teams in the NBA would give Griffin the max?

A lot of teams don't do much in the playoffs, he is still the #1 scorer on a team that is clearly 1 of the top 6 or 7 teams in the NBA. That makes him better than a lot of people and likely worth 17M easily.

I don't presume to know what 90% of the league would do. But if they would, then 90% of the league would be overpaying for Blake Griffin.

Based on the skill level of other players in the league that are making that much

I'm not going to go down the line comparing him to everyone that makes that much, but trust me, 17mill is nothing for an all star caliber player to be making in the NBA.

If there was no salary cap and it was just pure free market like baseball then a lot of these guys would be making 25-50 a year....

Don't even get me started on the idiocy of baseball contracts. The way GM's mismanage their teams is hard to stomach. We could 12 pages on that.

And I do not feel he is an all star caliber player. That is my opinon on him. Clearly you believe he is so we can agree to disagree there

How much have you watched him this year? I don't believe anyone with basketball knowledge could watch him this year and not think Griffin is top tier all star player. Impossible.

My only guess is you still have an image of him as just a dunker from a few years ago. His game is far more developed now. Get the nba tv league pass and just watch him

There's no doubt he's better this year but I watched him the other night and I felt like I was watching the same old Griffin. Trying to shake the defender to get a two footer. He won't shoot the 16 footer.

Management of contracts has nothing to do with it.

The point is there is a very large pie and if there was a pure free market free agency system like baseball has, players like B Griffin would get a larger piece of the pie.

His win shares this year pro-rated are going to be around 17-18ish, you don't think an NBA team would pay a million per win in player salary? Every team would take that anyday. You don't just luck your way into scoring 25 a game and being 1of the top 10 most efficient players in the NBA offensively.

Im sure some of that is based on who is defending him. Ive seen him alot this year and have been surprised how willing he is to take a jump shot....and it is a much improved jump shot. we can disagree on how good he is.....im in no way a clips fan but watch a ton of nba and have been impressed with how his game has developed.

Griffin takes way more jumpers and 3s than he should. But his jumper has improved big time! Just needs to get better at free throws and he will be scoring high 20's each night

Have league pass and watch nba every night. He is a second tier player, no where near top tier. Top tier all stars are Lebron James, Paul George, Kevin Durant, etc. You put him in that category?

Yes, I'm sure you watch it more than me. I'm a CBB guy.

Blake Griffin is an athlete, that's it.

He is undersized, can't shoot, and doesn't defend. He can dunk. Dunking doesn't win you championships and he is not capable of being a #1 scoring option.

He is also overpayed at 17 mill

This post is so grossly inaccurate....clearly you watch very little basketball.

I would not put paul george in category of lebron or durant. Wheni think top tier i think top 10 and griffin is certainly in the discussion to be in that category.
