Age 42

Workout with weights 4-5 days per week.
Cardio 1-2 times per week.
Eat 5-6 small meals per day w/3 protein shakes.
Never eat past 7pm. If your hungry have a protein shake.

Stay away heavy processed foods.
Stick to whole foods. Lean cuts of Meat, veggies, fresh fruit.
Make breakfast your largest meal of the day. I have a 3-4 egg omlete with just one yolk. I also have a bowl of oatmeal as well for my large amount of Carbs for the day.

Wonder how long it will take before this is advocated by health officials??
No brainer!
Carbs are killers!

as a meal replacement do not have whey protein

whey should be used for pre and post workout only.

It may not have many carbs but rightfully for its intended purpose of post, pre workout gives you an insulin rush.

a slow release protein is what you need morning, night and anytime in between when your arent working out

cassein protein

cocoa beach

heh

One of my most memorable short conversations took place by phone with a friend's mother who lives in CB.

Let's just say that mama is old school southern...

Me: Well, Jodie's told me a lot about you. You live in Cocoa?

M: Oh no. Cocoa BEACH. --- Cocoa is mostly, well.....

Me: Um....(I snap to what she's saying)...oh yes, so you're on the ocean side then?

M: Yes. (pause). Are there a lot of Them over there where you live?

Me: Well...yes ma'am. They're pretty much everywhere. Good talking to you!

BACK ON TOPIC...heh

A nice byproduct of my being a lawn/garden guy is that even today I still average mowing three or four residential yards a day and I calculated once that the average yard I do is almost a half mile of walking once I go over the whole yard with a 21" self propelled mower.

Periodically I'm asked by a new client, "Do you use a riding mower?" - to which I reply, "No, because most every mower guy I see who rides is at least 50 lbs overweight."

COASTER, gotta admit I would not have pegged you as 55. You seem way too light hearted.

I guess that's another component of healthy living, eh?

A very good tennis drill I you use for cardio is you use service box only with opp, you tee the ball up like a pat in the middle of net and drop it, no volleys allowed unless your 5 feet off the net. IF opps are equal you will be gasping for air within 5 minutes.

Another one is 1 on 1 indoor or beach volleyball, you must hit it 3 times before over. 1 on 1 fullcourt basketball aint bad either if your in high end shape.

Body surfing, raquetball aint bad either.

Have seen golf tourneys where you have 3 clubs and run the whole course, no carts allowed. You use strokes plus minutes played. I think world record is 99 on 6500+ courses.

I am the old fart here at age 63. One thing I have always done is running and weights. Two years ago I decided to start entering road races in the Grand Prix of Georgia. These are 5ks and 10ks held all over the state and you compete against others in your age bracket for points and awards. I became so obsessed with this that sometimes I would enter 2 5ks at different locations on the same day - Saturdays - and then run another race on Sundays. My weight dropped from 210 to 183. Now I have cut down on the runnng and play golf - lots and lots of golf. The last 2 years I have averaged 250+ posted rounds. The club I belong to, Indian Hills, has a very active and large seniors golf association and I really enjoy competing with these 55+ guys - some of whom are 0-5 handicaps.
I have not payed much attention to diet and I do drink lots of lite beer. The point I am trying to make is to stay very very active doing something you enjoy and to be a happy person. Once you become sedentary it is difficult to reverse. We all must deal with the aging process and I choose to to so with vigor and enthusiasm.

Another good game is cross court forhands and back hands with double alleys good and imaginary line up the tee. You get to hit lots of balls without running too much, I did that today for an hour half today and feel like a Million bucks right now.

Raquetball kicks ass. Stretching out is a must before and after playing.
