Cards got embarassed by a team that hadn't won a World Series in almost a century! May take a while to get over that choke! Good luck!

Royalfan,

Seriously how can say Cards had advantage when they turned down playing a second series vs Royals this year. They played 3 games. I guess than you can say Yanks are a joke because you swept them! All you can do is play the games on the schedule that the league provides and go from there. Nothing more or less. If you look at every team you can find chink in the armor or a bad series or two. You need to find something better than they played an easy schedule for your arguement as it is weak!

Not at all saying they aren't a great team but if you want to tell me that playing the Royals while the Cubs are playing the White Sox isn't ad advantage you are freaking nuts. Ofcourse you say you think Carpenter is the best pitcher also, so maybe you are.

royalfan,

Give me a break if you really think that the Cards 3 games vs Royals vs Cubs 6 games vs White Sox makes up a 13 game send over some of what you are smoking. In regards to Carpenter, at this moment, no one is pitching better. Doesn't mean he is better than others but at this moment he is. Name one other pitcher who is last eight outings has gone 0,3,0,0,1,,0,1,and 0 for a total of 5 runs in 8 outings covering about 65 innings over the last month. Until you come back with some real facts that can be digested, your arguement is worthless.

capn crunch,
Making the playoffs and winning the division year in and year out for about 5 years except for 03 is an embarrassing and choking I would hate see others track records. Red Sox earned it . I didn't see Cards blowing a lead or making an error in those 4 games , all I saw was a team that outhit, pitched, and out played the Cards. Don't need the luck!

So to answer my previous question, would you take Carpenter over everyone else in a game 7 today? Didn't think so.

To answer your question, yes I would at this point in time. Why don't you answer a few of my questions that you are avoiding. Obviously you are just trying to start something, so I will simply ignore you and let it play out.

If game 7 were played today, I would absolutely take Carpenter. The guy is currently unhittable. Period.

Certainly not trying to start anything with you as you haven't insulted me or called me names that I recall, once someone does that I will call them out on every stupid thing they say, just ask Viking, Noreaga, and Chuck Simms, I just like these kind of friendly debates and if I came accross over the edge I apologize. I just think that is insane that you would take Carpenter over all others and Vegas would clearly agree with me. To answer your question about the Cubs, no way do I think they are even close to as good as the Cardinals and certainly the schedule is not the reason for the separation, but that does not mean it isn't an advanatage playing the Royals instead of the White Sox because it certainly is an advantage, however large or small.

Are you going to whine about Sanders' injury? And Molina out for a bit? And I would bet even money that Rolen is headed back to the DL before long. Walker and Edmonds are fragile too. A "rash" of injuries would not surprise me one bit. Woudn't sadden me either, quite frankly. I won't hope for a line drive off Carpenter's forehead though, that would be rather Steve Kline-ish of me.

Nothing to whine about when you have already clinched the division and have 75 more exhibition games until the postseason.

I'm not about to say that they are going to blow the division, but to say they have clinched it is just a bit premature, given 13 games left against the Cubbies. If the Cubs were to go, say 10-3, in those games then the lead is down to 6 with the other 58 games remaining. It's a longshot for sure, but not clinched. Of course if somehow that happened it would still be hard to imagine how they wouldn't at least get the WC.

But that's good that Cards fans will postpone whining until October. :103631605

D2,

Let's be realistic here. Cubs/Cards have 14 games left with 6 in STL and 8 in Chicago. Let's consider the facts. Cards have not lost 4 in a row for over 2 years now. Also, throw in fact Cubs have not won a series in ST. Louis in about 6 years. That tells me worst case scenario for Cards is winning 4 of 6 in St. Louis and 2 of 8 in Chicago to go 6-8. Losing 2 games in the standings. Last time I checked if that happened it would take the Cubs to 11 games out. Not good enough. In regards to whining, I would rather make it to the dance and fail then to never get there and be consistently whining in June year in and year out. Thats the facts has harsh as they are. You guys are simply jealous that the cubs and royals simply don't cut the mustard as franchises and to take your frustration out on the second best of all time in Cards. That's fine, I can be that crying shoulder if you need it. Good luck next year, decade, century!

Let's not get out of hand with Cards success. They've made the postseason 5 of the last 17 years; the Cubs 3 times during that period. Let's not pretend that they're the Braves or Yankees or anything. Haven't won the WS in 23 years and 1 WS in the last 39 and lost their last 3 appearances. Nothing to be ashamed of, mind you, but let's not annoint them the kings of baseball.

Thanks for proving my point! Cards have won more WS than any other team in baseball except the Yankees. If you are going to use your arguement, I don't think anyone but a Yanks,Red Sox, or Braves fan are able to give Cards any crap since no one else has proven a thing. Maybe the Marlins. But for a Cubs or Royals fan to be dishing it out is a joke and embarrassing to you guys. Make a valid point in relation to your team or get off the topic. That is my opinion.

You take baseball too seriously. Sounds like pent up frustration from 23 years of not winning a World Series. I, on the other hand, as a Cubs fan, expect not to win the World Series. So there is no disappointment. :dancefool

Whatever D2, that is why you support your Cubs like they are going to win the WS year in and year out. No reason to discuss further as a person with a clear mind can make their own decision and a reasonable person would come to same conclusion. LOL

I never said the Royals were good, that is not what this thread is about. In fact I know they are on hard times which is exactly why I said the Cards have an edge getting to play them in interleague. Hopefully the day comes where the two can go at in the World Series again as the Cards are my favorite national league team albeit infinately behind the Royals in terms of rooting interest.

Hey, the Royals got a steal from my Cubs when they claimed (and played) Andy Sisco. I couldn't believe the Cubs didn't protect him. Might be the worst move Hendry has made. What do you guys think of him, is he for real?

Sisco is going to be awesome. That big lefty throws serious gas. I could see him being a closer in the next 1-2 seasons.

The sad part is, once he gets good and makes a name for himself, the Royals will have to let him go because they won't be able to afford him.
