got in today, walked around, ate at Cajun Cabin, pretty good...

Man do they love their daquaris here, every bar has tons of different kinds. And tons of strip clubs on bourbon street wasnt expecting that. And what is with the "Love Acts" place World Famous Men and Women across from Cajun Cabing?
have a hurricane at Pat O'Briens. the court of two sisters has the BEST Large White Russian i ever had, my favorite drink to have while walking the quarter. Make sure to keep me posted on the restaurants...

Let me summarize my recomendations

1)BBQ Shrimp, Blackened Chicken or Catfish at Oceana on Conti and bourbon
2)EVERYTHING at the Gumbo Shop on st Pete
3)The Cajun Fried Chicken and Jambalaya at Coops place on Decatur

Just about any other place you go will have a world class meal, no matter how the place looks inside or out, its fucking uncanny.

Good luck and keep me posted!

Oh make sure, especially if you have had some drinks, to get a 4 pack of cheese krystals and chili cheese fries from Krystal Burger on the north end of Bourbon st. Also go to Popeyes on Canal for the spicey chicken, it was invented in New Orleans!

Visit St Louis Cemetary #1 on the other side of Rampart too, its where the voodoo queen is buried and where they filmed the LSD scene in Easy Rider.

Bottom line, it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a bad time in the quarter, i want to move there in some years, after my son gets older, its just the most enjoyable neighborhood in the world.

Definite must do! They have an awesome patio out back. Careful though...those things will absolutely kick your ass & you won't know it until it's too late. Have one & cover some ground on the street to get your blood moving before you decide to have another.

Also, if you get to the far end of Bourbon(away from Canal) & see a breakfast diner on your right....turn around & head back towards Canal-you're in queerville & in the sketchy area of the quarter where you could end up getting robbed, especially late at night.

Naw, just up in the mountains-well, at least the foothills(couple thousand feet higher than Denver).

We did have a day last week where it was 81 & we had a couple inches on the ground the next morning. Spring out here is goofy

It was pretty good, it was very interesting to find out later that it was actually a "what if" movie if the big hurricane came, but then katrina came so they made it a before and after. the gf cried a few times during the movie.

We went and ate at oceana today for lunch, it was pretty solid, i had the catfish po boy, didnt get the bbqed shrimp since i had that at the other place. Then we went to tropical isle and i got a miller lite for me and a frozen hand grenade for me and the gf to share since i knew it was so strong i figured it wouldn't taste that great and I'd have to help her with it. The thing was damn good though so i went and got my own, she got hammered on hers. I hadnt seen her that drunk in a year, she went from sober to drunk so fast, it was hilarious. We each got another one and then she wanted to go back to the hotel for some fun time, to which after she passed out at like 530 pm new orleans time, I ordered mlb ticket on the tv and watched the reds game, now we are finally getting room service. I just now found out Pat O briens had a piano bar so we are going to have to hit that, piano bars are by far my favorite thing in teh world.

Been there done that. There's something really wrong about being fed retarded amounts of grain alcohol & wandering a street that absolutely REEKS of raw sewage.

I gaffed right in the middle of Bourbon Street after getting a good strong whif.

Matt, i say there is NO better time than that spent in the French Quarter!!

Take in Coops place when you have a chance, the Cajun chicken and jumbalaya is off the charts!

Also, check out a white russian at the court of two sisters on bourbon, top notch!

as you have probably noticed, there is live music EVERYWHERE, one of my favorites if the bouron st blues club, you can't miss it. I highly suggest a horse and buggy ride starting in front of Jackson sq, even a night ghost tour as well. If you have a few hours, check our a grey line city tour, worth every penny!

New Orleans is THE best! Basically, as i think i've said, any place you eat at is one of the best meals you've ever had, and the thing about New Orleans, there are restaurants All over! And they are all unique, not some franchise.

Hope you are having as good a time as it sounds, the GF sure does! LOL

excellent choice, though Oysters aren't my thing, much prefer the shrimp, chicken and catfish. BBQ or Blackened.
