Henderson NV is very mild compared to where I live. I'll try to explain it. Water can be warmer in one spot of a lake and still have more ice build up.The Wind plays a major role in ice formation. I guess the winds have been crazy causing this "polar vortex." Case in point last Tuesday I went ice fishing the temp was zero but we had no wind, I didn't need to clean out the holes very often. I went again on Wednesday (Stupid) it was 10 above but there was a 12 MPH wind. I had to clean out the holes every 15 - 20 minutes due to ice build up.

Would much rather have a day - 10 with no wind then a day zero with a big wind.

Also another case in point using Lake Superior as an example. It can be 50 degrees in early April and no boat is moving in the usual spots, cause thewind is pushing the ice in, pretty much shutting down the area for boating, so extra caution needs to be taken

Well you've certainly convinced me. Maybe the EPA can regulate it. Problem solved.

Like someone said earlier, the climate on this planet has been changing for over 4 BILLION years. LONG before man arrived and I expect it will change long after. The people that are saying man is the cause of it are the same people who said in the 70's we were entering a new "Ice Age". Then, a few years later we were gonna run out of oil by the year 2000. Next I heard we aren't going to have enough food. Then it was we are running out of fresh water. THEN, Y2K. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

President Obama will pitch a new $1 billion climate change resilience fund during a visit Friday to California.

The fund, which would need to be approved by Congress, is intended to help communities dealing with negative weather that's the result of climate change.

Obama is touting the fund during a trip to California, which has been devastated by a drought that is threatening the Central Valley's agriculture production and has led Gov. Jerry Brown (D) to call on Californians to conserve water.

I have to assume the billion will be spent on hiring thousands of....

I do not agree with Charles on this one. The part about global warming or climate change is that the right wing nuts say it is a left wing theory. Well I guess the left wing should take such pride for being smart since the phenomenon was brought up by scientists. Are you guys saying that scientists are left wingers? Another positive for the left. It would be like me saying all right wingers are religious nuts! To me the scientists have been right when compared to right wing religious beliefs,. The denouncement of evolution and thinking the Earth is only 6,000 years old makes them look STUPID!

Scientists once said the world was flat..so by your reasoning lefties are dumb fucks. I agree.

Many conservatives believe the Earth is 6,000 years old. Not sure that's good reasoning about scientists centuries ago thinking the world was flat. Difference between conservatives and scientists is scientists will change their mind when presented with factual evidence. You guys are a Religious cult that will believe the same shit for the rest of your lives no matter how stupid it is.
