1* Free Pick on Iowa -9.5
I got no problem here laying this number with Iowa at home against the Cornhuskers. The Hawkeyes got back on track last week in a 63-0 win at Illinois, putting to rest any thought that they weren't going to finish strong after three straight heartbreaking losses.
I expect a fully focused and motivated Iowa team to take the field in their home finale on Friday, as there's few teams the Hawkeyes enjoy beating more than Nebraska. They haven't had any problem disposing of the Cornhuskers the last two years. They won 56-14 at Nebraska last year and 40-10 at home two years ago.
I get that Nebraska has started to play better, but they are still a year or two away from being a serious contender in the Big Ten under new head coach Scott Frost. This is Iowa team is the real deal, as they are a few plays from being undefeated.
I just think this line is more than justified, especially given the matchup. For Nebraska's offense to put up points, they have to be able to run the ball. Iowa has one of the best run defenses and all-around defenses in the country.
I would say they are very similar, if not better than the Michigan State defense that just completely shutdown Nebraska last week. Big difference here is Iowa has an offense that can put up points and the Cornhuskers defense has been exposed more times than not this season. Take Iowa!
