ESPN has been trying to force soccer upon us by posting it as the first/main story/scoreboard on their home page.

It's just not going to work ESPN, give it up & stop...

sorry but its the opening weekend of the most popular league in the world....

espn have no contracts with a major european league so it's not like this is for ratings purposes not to mention what the fuck else is going on at 10am on a sunday morning that would be front page material?

if soccer is on front page at 4pm then you can whine about it

I have no problem with the game (except it only consists of average & above average athletes).

I'm simply stating that if they believe even 10% of us here give a flip about it, or the scores, they are wrong...

No one is forcing you to watch. No one cares about women's basketball either but they show scores and highlights for that.

I am not watching much ESPN anymore after the big LeBron signing crisis that they had on 24/7 on all of their channels

ESPN is dropping NASCAR's older audience for SOCCER's younger one.

I can't stand ESPN and only watch college football games. They have dumbed the network down so much
with dumbass jocks that one would think they're targeting junior high kids.

is this a joke?

Of course not.

Maybe to the rest of the world soccer players in these leagues are considered wonderful, but compared to U.S. athletes, they aren't even close.

I've said it before and will again....

If only 1%... Yes just ONE PERCENT...Of U.S. top athletes who grow up dedicating their time to football, basketball, and baseball, would concentrate on soccer instead, then the U.S. would dominate this sport as well.

You have guys who are running 4.3 forty yard dashes, much-much quicker, agile, and physically gifted, who would make opponents look as foolish on the soccer field as they do on the basketball court when top players participate.

How anyone could possibly not see or admit this is honestly beyond me...

The point is how hard they push it since they are showing it. I can't watch it and I won't watch ESPN when its on and I turn off Sportscenter when they cover it.

I was hearing about this a couple of weeks ago on the radio and it has something to do with the changing demographics of America. Like it or not, or if you're simply not aware, soccer is gaining popularity and within the next 5 to 10 years ESPN is going to be cashing in big with even more soccer coverage. Hate it myself but that's the reality. The day is coming where we will be saying on this very forum the disbelief that the NFL is no longer the most popular sport in America.

Of course they are, The Wolrd Cup ratings were through the roof. While you may not watch it, there are obviously plenty of others that will.
