I used to go to TJ routinely when I lived in SD in the 80's. I went there ( drove) to go and play jai-alai, never went anywhere else in Mexico. The driving was scary, nothing like driving in Canada !

Sounds like a mighty expensive tow-job, IMO. Why not walk over the border, SS ?

What do you do with the car once it is towed to Cancun, leave it there ?

SS - Aren't you better off driving up to Vancouver and crossing back into Canada to get your permit? Or for that matter fly into Vancouver, Detroit or even Buffalo? I'd think you would have a better option if you did that.

no becoz if I go to Vancouver they might not let me back in the USA since I am already in my home country.

The car will be in the USA, it wont be towed to Cancun, ill have it towed to vegas or LA or somehwere to store for a while... this is a minute chance that this would happen.

what is this permit even for ?

I don't quite get it. You cross the border into Mexico to get a work permit or something, then you are good for another 6 months in the US or something ?

Do you want dual citizenship ( US/ Canadian) ? Maybe marry an American ? NO, SCRATCH THAT, BAD IDEA, AND YOU'RE STILL MARRIED TO BLONDIE.

Maybe just be an illegal alien from the north instead of the south ? Won't they always let you back into Canada ?

I assume you're settled into Vegas reasonably well and can leave the car there where you rent a room from somebody ?

How about fly from LV to SD then take a bus from SD to San Ysidro and walk over the border, get your thing, cross back to San Ysidro, bus to the airport and fly SD to LV ?

fuck that, im driving, ill take the chance that they will let me back in... the odds of them not letting me back in are probably less than 1%....

worst case is prob they let me back in, give me a month, then tell me to leave.

sure..... find me an american broad to marry and ill do it, ill be divorced in June.

I dont want to be illegal (although I easily could) becoz in the future they might not let me back in if I choose to do it.

Personally, I wouldn't drive that trip for a million dollars. I may be wrong, but I am assuming you are white - if so you can forget about getting through without any hassles. Basically everyone here is telling you to forget about driving it, but you seem to just be shrugging it all off - just go ahead and do it then...prob less than a 50% chance something bad will happen. You willing to chance it?

I agree with everything ALSportsJunkie says on this. No matter how many people are warning SportsSavant, he's shrugging it off.

Good luck, SS! I wouldn't do it. About 4 years ago, I used to go to TJ once a week coming from L.A. to go to Adelita Bar (http://www.adelitabar.com/).

Now you won't catch me anywhere near Mexico. That whole country has turned real nasty.

You're a gambler to the bitter end. Hope you make it bro! :pimp:
