Man I can't stand that. I'll be at 711 and these clowns pull out their debit cards for a slurpee. I know there's that tap feature now but it's still aggravating especially when it doesn't work for them and then they proceed to key in their pin and do it that way.

It's moronic.

I pay cash. I use my credit card only when needed like online purchases, car rentals or hotels etc when travelling.

Also, and I'll know I'll get a backlash for this but I find it dainty when guys are constantly pulling out their cards for everything. Men pay in cash plus you feel like a boss. There I said it. I know it's stupid so don't bother calling me out I already know it's a stupid sexist comment but real men pay in cash. Aside from larger purchases, online purchases etc.

There should be a rule against using debit cards/credit cards for tiny purchases wtf.

Do you use a nice thick rubber band as a money clip for your flash cash?

I've morphed into using credit cards a whole lot more, and I'm getting a lot of free stuff

But I still carry a decent amount of cash

Credit is 1000x better if you pay your bills. Easier to keep track of, various rewards programs..i make a couple hundred a year from.cc and don't pay a dime in interest or annuals.

What cards give the best rewards?

IDK for sure, a lot might depend on what you do. I love my JetBlue Card, they gave like 15,000 points just to sign up. Everything you spend is added to your mileage, and you get bonus points for using it on JetBlue purchases. We've flown to Vegas and the Bahamas for free recently, and we're flying to Aruba using points too and we still have some leftover.

We also have a Capital One Venture Card and others too.

An interesting one for this forum, Total Rewards Visa which gives you points and handouts through Caesars.

They're all good, just depends on what you want points for

I have a capital one venture but dont use it anymore. There are better options (although capital one is now doing some things to compete) best thing about venture is the simplicity in redeeming rewards. I basically got a venture card for the initial bonus and to give myself more overall available credit. I'm completely obsessed with perfecting my credit score which currently sits at 839.

Chase Saphire Reserve is currently the best and the one I'm using religiously. I recieved 100,000 bonus points when it first came out because I upgraded from the chase saphire. Combined that with the 50,000 bonus points I initially got with the first chase saphire for spending $4,000 in the first three months. Have 350,000 points now.

There is an AMEX thays comparable to chase saphire reserve but I'm just not an American Express guy. I need my card to he accepted everywhere.

Good to see Willie getting with the times.

For anyone that doesn't live paycheck to paycheck, its free money to use a credit card for everything you can.

I use the Chase Sapphire as my main card. But I cycle through all the airline cards as well. Get the free trips, then cancel. Wait until the two year period is over then rinse and repeat. Haven't paid for airfare for 4 on our family summer vacations for years.

Everyone lives a different lifestyle so I hope everyone realizes there are no right or wrong answers here. I’m split using both cash and CC equally. I don’t accept CC for payment on the golf course and neither does anyone else so I need cash in my pocket for most of the year.

It's actually the Chase Freedom Unlimited we use now. Still have the original Sapphire but we almost exclusively use the Freedom now since it pays more.

No annual fee. 1.5% cash back on every purchase with even higher cash back on certain purchases. It's a better card than the original Sapphire.

One comment worth making about the capital one venture. The rewards arent as good but it's so much easier to redeem. You literally just use your card for the trip and it gets taken off your statement.

Chase points are a pain in the ass to use. For example staying at Hyatt Regency Aruba next year. To use the points you have to transfer them to hyatt first then book your trip through hyatt.

Also chase now longer partners with Disney so the points cant be used for anything Disney. And you're pretty much at the mercy of these companies as to what you can and cant book.

Barclay Arrival is a good travel rewards card too. Will probably get this one also since it has a great bonus right now. Will have chase saphire reserve, capital one venture, and Barclay.

I never use my Chase points for anything other than cash back. That's super easy as it goes straight into your checking account.

I use the airline cards for airfare. That's an easy process as well.

Yea the cash back is easy on chase but your technically not taking full value of the points since they worth 1.5× more booked through chase travel or transferred to travel partners. But it's a pain in the ass and very little flexibility.

I have about 350,000 chase points. Thinking about just cashing them in for $3500 bucks instead of jumping through the travel hoops. Then using my capital one venture or barclays going forward for travel redemption because of the simplicity of it

Well I started with the preferred and got the 50,000 pt bonus. Then when the reserve came out I opened one (because cant get bonus if only upgrading) and got the 100,000 pt bonus. Then downgraded my preferred to a no fee card and combined the points. Have been using my Reserve for all purchases since it came out in 2016.

What do you plan to use your points for?
