when i was in college, i had cc debt problems...interest kills you....when I got out of it i went a few years on cash only.

now that i'm older and a tad bit better with finances, I charge everything that I can. rewards (miles, pts, etc.) are free money if you pay off the balance and are not subject to interest. i don't like to pass up free money

You are showing your age...LOL

Most of the old timers I know still pay cash for everything...

Is there something wrong with people being older than you?......you show your stupidity..... you'll never get old, huh? I expect you'll do yourself in before you reach 50, right?

I only use cash or my debit card. If I don't have cash I don't buy it.

only reasons i can see to use cash is:

1) Dirty money
2) no discipline in spending and have to restrict to what is available
3) Bad credit - cannot get a good CC
4) do not have technology to check balances on checking and/or credit cards...need to use the balance inquiry function.

I wouldn't even use lazy as an excuse. CCs are the lazy man way to go. Seriously, if you guys are on cash and not under these above categories, then I'd look around for other options.

cash is the quickest also. there is nothing more aggravating to me than standing in line behind some jerk-off buying $5.00 worth of goods and the transaction lasting longer than the time it takes me to piss

It was a joke directed @ BAS...get over yourself. I was implying that old people are stubborn and set in their ways - which is mostly true mind you. I am sure I will be when I get to that age.

Takes more time these days to pay with cash then it does a card.
I guess you never stood behind an old lady looking for the exact change at the bottom of her purse.

Id be willing to bet more than half the people in this thread claiming to pay their balance in full every month and simply getting points/miles/cash back are full of shit......any takers?

Not hard to do if you set it up correctly.

I could see where it would be hard to do waiting till the end of the month every month to make your payment and clear out your balance.
But I might make 10 or 15 payments to my CC in a single month. I do it every single time I make a purchase with the CC.

I have my rewards card linked to my checking account where I can make a CC payment instantly.

Anytime I use my credit card to buy something I instantly use an app on my phone to transfer money from my bank account to the cc account.

Its just one more step then paying with your bank account.

Lets say I fill up my tank with gas with my rewards card for $80 bucks.

Before I drive away from the gas station im sending $80 from my bank account to my credit card account.

Sometimes my credit card will have a credit balance in times that the credit card gets the money from my bank account before it gets the charge from lets say the gas station.

The money comes out of my checking account instantly but at the same time im getting a free 5%.

This takes no will power at all.
Its the same exact thing as paying cash except you are getting 5% back.

So dont wait till the end of the month when you have racked up 2 or 3k.
Pay the card off instantly after every purchase.

I've got a better one for you and it's my pet peave! people at a supermarket checkout that think they don't have to pay for anything! They must not, or else they'd have their cash, credit or debit card out to complete the purchase. Some people just look at the register like they're amazed at how much they spent.

Not I Sir. Not sure why I or anyone else would need to lie about it.

My payment is due on the 15th of every month. I check the day or two before, pay off the balance. It aint rocket science.
