Miami and LSU both looked very mediocre today, Texas hasnt played a good team in 2 months, so jury out there. Fullerton looks like the best team in nation, with Dirtbags a dangerous floater with Ramos-Weaver- and Anderson Slider and Vargas and Toboats bat. Im pretty confident Dirtbags, Titans would have come 1 and 2 in SEC.

i was at the fullerton game and this one was close until we got to bat. our leadoff hitter got a 2B and things took off from there.

tulane looks like an 8th grade team and unless something shocking happens between now and 6P (PDT) sunday the series will be over in less than 24 hours.

100% agree with you on texass - but talk about a free ride into the finals. G1 vs. arkansas then G2 vs. the winner of the ga vs. long beach/arizona winner. if LB - keep in mind weaver will probably go against GA meaning he can;t go vs. texass. texass will easily go 3-0 and wednesday night be headed to the champ series. they aren't as good as their record - but the problem for other teams is the texass staff will be well rested. another problem is the other bracket appears to be BRUTAL. it looks like the other bracket will be: so. caro, miami, lsu and fullerton - and those 4 will KILL each other and if they have to burn pitchers will have nothing left when it comes time to face texass.

They're both human, but far better than mediocre, as both played very game teams in UF & ATM.

UF served up their loss to Miami on a platter with errors, and these two have been close all year when playing.

But the LSU win can be looked at two ways..average pitching and some errors up the middle, or that the Tigers spotted ATM a 5-0 lead in the top of the 1st, then preceded to bang out an 11-3 run to end the game, with many runners left on base along the way.

The Horns look the best thus far, and if one includes their playing Rice closest last year in 3rd place CWS finish attached to their winning it the year prior, they are college baseball's best team over the last 3 years..definitely have the best 3 starters hooked to a lockdown closer.

Miami if wins it all this year will have taken 2 of 4 to be the best of this decade..and if LSU(the '90s best) wins it's 2nd of the '00s they will resume the lead as college baseball's decade dominator role.

Between Tex, Mia, and LSU the dominance/pride factor is a motivator, while USC, CSF(past winner), and LBS are recent regulars that are getting close to winning it all.

Soon the solid programs of UGa('90 CWS crown), USC, or Ark, will produce a winner to join LSU as SEC teams that can win CWS titles..as even Bama would've won one in '97 if didn't face dominant back-to-backer in LSU.

But must say CSF's '92 "Phil & Dante" team, Dave Snow's Dirtbag teams of yesteryear, along with the '91 'Dine team speak volumes of Cali baseball..but top to bottom the Pac-10 is weak right now in many sports..what gives?..just a cycle?

1st or 2nd in the SEC??..the league doesn't even have any Tim Hudsons,etc.. this year, yet it is about to have 50% of the CWS field yet again, with some of it's worst ace pitching levels in years.

Az 'Cats and the hard hitting CSF Titans round out the field of 8.

Only one weekend series goes 3 games, Az over LBS in 11 innings for berth.

My guess is that Texas will have lapped Miami after this weekend's results as the numero uno chalk by a small edge according to the oddsmakers, with LSU , CSF, & USC next in line, followed by UGa, Ark, then Az.

Omaha will be the FIRST Miami Cains had to leave the state of Florida to play this year. LSU first trip in a Western direction. Not fair for ASU, Stanford to have to deal with LB St, and Fullerton in rnd 1.

Coach Weathers made many a boo boo this weekend.

Fullerton and Texas on one level, then everybody else imo.

Arizona scored 14 at Blair field against best pitching in country. You can COUNT on them doubling that output at Rosenblatt. Blair Field with the 390 power alley 350 down the line, June Gloom MArine Layer and breeze inward.

Rail, Miami admittedly looked Punch & Judy this weekend, but I assure that LSU can spank the ball as usual.

Rail, don't let that west coast bias keep costing you.

From what I saw of Az-LBS..LSU, SC, and Ark would've tore the cover off the ball vs either.

CSF is a legit darkhorse, they like the other CWS regulars that have been there know what to expect, they really crunch a few runs in many frames..and are competitors.

Someone in the Texas bracket needs to make them burn some pitching, hopefully old SWC rival Ark will bring the same effort they usually do when playing the Horns, or UGa/Az possibly.

Not true, they played @ Georgia Tech. Miami didn't lose two games in a row all season and only dropped one series I believe, and that was to the Tar Heels. How can you knock a team that is going for its third championship in five years? Sound like a hater to me.

I think it will come down to Miami and Texas.

Hey Rail,

hey max - when all is said and done - i put it at about 50/50 the sole CA team (my alma mater) goes almost as far - if not farther - than the 4 SEC teams.

Winky,

Sounds like a prop bet to me... I'll take the SEC, you got CS and the loser gets the winner a 1yr subscription to Playboy.... deal?

Which ever gets the farthest is the winner. If neither makes the finals, it's a tie or if no one makes the semi's it's a tie... agreed?
