for obvious reasons, i hope i'm right too. still feel good about it, although the pull back was more dramatic than i anticipated. would i recoomend buying it here? if you have the stomach for it, i'd say hell yeah. if you plan on cussing me out if it drops another .15, then i'd say forget about it.

last month, i would have already sold this for a slight loss and would probably have gotten back in at this price, or at the first sign of it making a move up. i have been making pretty good picks when it comes to stocks about to take off, but one of my biggest flaws was selling too quick and leaving money on the table. this month i'm taking a different approach. i mistimed hlcs twice last month and lost a few hundred bucks. the third time i jumped in during the middle of the rally and sold on the first pull back. i made a decent profit on it, but it would have been much better if i hadn't pretended i was gordon fucking gekko.

all that being said, first thing anyone should know -- and i pointed this out before -- is that i'm still new at this and don't want to mislead anyone into thinking they can blindly follow. there's a saying that goes something like "the worst thing that can happen to a new investor is to be successful on his first couple trades, because he starts thinking he can't lose." not saying i'm wrong on cprx -- far from it -- just want to be upfront.

in the mean time, a pretend trade here: vg at 1.72.....

after hours news regarding cprx: cprx has been approved to have its stock transferred from the nasdaq global market to the nasdaq capital market. its symbol will remain the same and investors will be able to trade the stock as before.

not a good thing, not really a bad thing either, although i will be watching it like a hawk in the premarket and at the first sign of trouble i'll be writing this one off as a loss. the volume is up in after hours trading, but the price has not changed.

the nasdaq capital market is basically just a step up from the otc stocks. the company voluntarily applied to be moved without having been given a non compliance notice, which is a good thing, but the fact that they felt the need to request a transfer makes me wonder where these guys plan on their stock price being in the next several months.

some stocks that recently switched from the global to the nasdaq capital:

17 jun 2009: 1st day of trading on capital market, CGEN ended flat at 1.20, the same as its previous day's close. on june 23rd, the stock climbed to as high as 2.25 before closing at 1.68. it closed today at 2.80.

12 Aug 2009: 1st day of trading on capital market, NMTI closed at 1.74, 9 cents below its previous day's close. the stock closed today at 1.95. its high since transferring to the capital market was 2.15.

9 Mar 09: 1st day of trading on the capital market, ARWR closed at .53, 9 cents higher than its previous close. it would not climb much higher until april, where it reached a high of .80. the stock now trades at .47.

i have also seen stocks that made the change and are now traing otc and significantly lower than when they made the change. it does look as though companies that request a transfer without having been given a non compliance notice fare better than companies that receive a non compliance notice and THEN request a transfer.

i'm not exactly sure what to make of the news to be honest. like i said, if this thing shows signs of dropping in the morning i'm hauling ass.

can you trade after hours, if it spikes tonight----can you not dump it..

i notice vonage surged last night and never saw those prices again today, could you have gotten out of VG at $2.13 if you had bought during the day at $1.50?

depends on who you do business with. my brokerage doesn't do individual AH trading. ah trading is highly volatile and that's where the big boys play for the most part. don't sweat it man. i wasn't trying to be doom and gloom, more trying to make a plan. i'm seeing it up .8 right now, although ah is really not a good guage for how it's gonna do the next day. i'll be on here 90 minutes before the markets open, i still have faith in this thing, just trying to formulate a strategy. i have a fairly high tolerance for risk, but i also try to recognize when i make a bad play so i'm just not throwing my money away. the jury's still out on this one. right now i wouldn't change a thing....except maybe my entry price.

the switch to the nasdaq capital market is good news, as it will eliminate negative speculation regarding its ability to remain on a major exchange. i think it also shows management's awareness of the stock price by timing this transition with the recent news, and if management is conscious enough of the stock price to be making these types of decisions, then watch the fuck out....

trading between .93 and .98 in both ah yesterday an pre market today. that is the tight range i am looking for. let's see if we get that today. of course, i would have no discrimination against a higher range.

what now? its btwn .80-.83
keep it for a while?

i'm holding it. i haven't seen anything that makes me think otherwise. going to give it 2 weeks. i was in at 1.16, so i''m down about 30%. i don't think there's much downside left here.

finally seems to have decided to settle within a tight range. what we want to see over the next several trading days is a slow climb toward the upside. if things go as planned, watching this stock will be like watching paint dry. don't expect any big movement until the end of next week, beginning of the next.

Sonnerdawg, sorry for getting off topic. I was trying to follow you capper/tout thread. Don't know what happened to it. I was wanting to find some consistant cappers. I found Patron, Kelso, and randizzle from your thread. I don't think Patron or randizzle have been posted today, what you think about ATS Lock Club or sportsbetnow? You have any others you know about?

Thanks

the mods moved it, not sure why. i placed it in the service plays forum instead of the cfb forum, which may be the reason it got moved. right now i'm not seeing anything for tonight. my own handicapping seems to be horribly 50/50 no matter which angle i approach it from, so this football season i'm going to tail exclusively and see if i can bump my win percentage by at least a couple points. considering all the touts posted in the service plays forum and all the cappers who post in the cfb and nfl forum, i'm trying to narrow it down to just a few so i don't wind up playing 100 games a week.

kelso has been a consistent winner with his big plays over the few years that i've followed him, so basically anything he releases at 100 units or more i'm playing. also his 50 unit cfb plays, his nfl plays are average at best.

i'm not attempting to keep records of every play released -- simply trying to keep a record of the games i bet, and the tout i followed. for the most part, it will be "play of the year" type plays. out of the games i bet, i will also scroll through and see how many touts were using the game as their "lock of the year" or whatever. it's profitable to identify those who hit 50% across the board and identify those who come through when they step it up.

there are a lot of quality cappers who post in the cfb forum and it's just a matter of narrowing it down to no more than 3. i also want to be careful that i don't come across as bashing one of our posters -- i'll bash a tout all day long when they release a Shit Play, but for those who take the time and are curteous enough to post, they shouldn't be bashed if they lose. a guy could have a YTD of 18-6, but if i lost the 4 games i tailed, then i'd be posting 0-4.

i'll create a seperate thread in the cfb forum....it will probably be sunday, once i've got a few saturday plays under my belt. like i said, it's more of a record keeping endeavour for me than a "look at my plays" thread. i can tell you now i'll be playing kelso's 50 and 100 unit plays tomorrow and utep tomorrow night (thanks to fish head), and whatever quarter and half time plays rodeo comes up with. since touts have a propensity for big game releases, i'm trying to keep track and evaluate after week 2.

as far as randizzle, the guy was too hot last year to not monitor to start this season, but with all the hype and bullshit, keeping an accurate record on this guy might be more trouble than it's worth. did he go 0-1 last night, or 3-0....? depends on who you listen to.

Just to jump in jason, patron was posted in service forum. 20000 unit play on under tulsa 63.5 i think. That doesn't really sound like someone to follow just from looking at that pick.?

bob valentino 30 dime: 2-0

ATS: 7-2 overall

drew gordon (didn't see any post for him yesterday) 100,000: 0-1; 50,000: 0-1

Leroy's College Challenge: Top 7 selections went 1-6

Bob Balfe 1-3

Dave Cokin Power play: 0-1....10*: 1-2

st bernadine sports: 3-0 overall

Asian Executive 3-1 overall

NSA: 3-0 overall

Savannah Sports: 2-4 overall (1-0 on 4* selection, its highest so far)

Wunderdog: 6-4

Jack Jones 20* "No Brainer": 2-1-1

Anthony Redd 25 Dime: 3-0

records are through yesterday. will post update sometime tuesday. easier to start tracking this early as opposed to try looking up records in the middle of the year. if something above makes you want to follow a tout, make sure you double check the record i posted for accuracy. i scrolled through the service play forum to get the info, and there's a chance i may have missed a few here and there

also, if you're looking for rxers to follow, i recommend checking out the thread pops started. he's doing some excellent work on a spreadsheet to track members who post their plays of the week in his thread. also, check out the picks and tracker forum, no conversation in there, just member picks and verified records.

Futures pointing up at 48 according to bloomburg. would be good to see some bullish activity in the overall market heading into the week.

let's look for CPRX to make a small move to the upside tomorrow regardless of how the broader markets fare.
