Be careful with CABL, I almost bought it a few months back on the recommendation of a friend, but I just didnt like how secretive they were about their financials until recently. It could be a great sign that the company is coming clean and will be more open to their shareholders. But, it trades very thin and manipulation could be at hand. Tread lightly, IMO

the fact that it's way up on very thin volume is the same reason i'm cautiously optimisitic. but if it shows signs of life in the morning and i can hop on and make a buck before lucnh time.....that being said, i still think DARA's the play tomorrow.....or coule be something that's not even hit the radar yet

keep an eye on this one in the morning as well. saw an uptick in volume today, but price lost a few cents. Over 800,000 shares traded in after hours -- blocks of 500,000, 250,000, and 50,000 and it saw a modest bump. This ain't somebody buying a 100 shares at double the price to manipulate -- someone putting some serious cash into this.

By the way, this company specializes in women's health and about a month ago announced positive test results for a phase 2 trial to treat menopause. If they come up with a cure for that....:toast:

No opinion on zvtk.pk lucky. thanks zp.

DARA certainly looking like a play, moving again in premarket trading on healthy volume. let's hope we can get a good entry price at the open. It's pre market high so far is .63, remember, it closed at .47 yesterday, I'm hoping for an opening price of no more than .55. Remember my strategy on this, if it opens above .55, we will wait until a pullback before we get involved. If the pull back doesn't come, then :ohno:

CABL also gapping up again in premarket, but only on 130 shares traded, looks like kewlness was right about the manipulation, I have a hard time putting faith in a stock that moves so much on such light volume.

Regarding BNVI, she is showing no pre market activity, but let's monitor this at the open, as I think it has a chance to hit the ground running based off its end of day activity yesterday.

looks like another stock dilution

selling 1.4 mil at .5357 a share so like cprx (which has stayed under the offering price of 1) i'm guessing its will stay under that going forward on the near term

maybe i'm wrong

yeah, i was worried about that when they first released the news, but this is the 4th time they've done this in the recent past. According to their last quarterly report, they have had these sales planned to raise cash. Looking at their charts the last couple times they did this, the stock declined but did come back in the next couple days.

Also, late this afternoon, Zack's initiated coverage on them and upgraded them to an outperform with a target price of $1.60, pointing out that DARA has been hindered because of its finances, but its recent efforts to raise cash should payoff in the coming quarters. They also pointed out that the value of one of its drug candidates was easily worth more than its market cap. I don't like holding these into the close, but I'm willing to give it a few days.

well, this sucks the big hairy root, DARA down to .45, may average down if it touches .40. also keep your eyes on CPRX, it's touched down to .87 the last couple days, i am looking to get on that around .84.

interesting reading

the article below does a pretty good job of explaining how pump and dumps work. It was done 10 years ago, but I think is still relevant today.

SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION

Litigation Release No. 16391 / December 15, 1999

SEC AND U.S. ATTORNEY MOVE AGAINST ACCUSED MICROCAP STOCK MANIPULATORS; THREE SPREAD FALSE INFORMATION THROUGH INTERNET MESSAGE BOARDS

SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION v. ARASH AZIZ-GOLSHANI, HOOTAN MELAMED & ALLEN DERZAKHARIAN, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Civ. Action No. 99-13139 (CBM) (AJWX) (C.D.Cal. December 15, 1999)

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that it filed a civil action against three Southern California defendants -- Arash Aziz-Golshani, 23, of Beverly Hills, Hootan Melamed, 23, of Pomona and Allen Derzakharian, 26, of La Crescenta -- alleging that they participated last month in a scheme to manipulate the price of a stock by spreading false information on Internet message boards. The Commission was granted a temporary restraining order against the defendants' future violations of the antifraud provisions of the federal securities laws and a freeze on their assets. The defendants' dissemination of misinformation on the Internet drove the stock of Dallas, Texas-based NEI Webworld, Inc. (NEIP) from a closing price of $.13 per share on Friday, November 12 to a peak price of over $15 per share on Monday, November 15.

In related actions, defendants Aziz-Golshani and Melamed were arrested by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Los Angeles field office and charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit securities fraud.

The Commission's civil complaint and documents filed in support of emergency relief allege the following:

•From November 9 through 12, 1999, the defendants accumulated large blocks of stock in NEI Webworld, Inc. (NEIP), for pennies per share. NEIP, formerly a Dallas, Texas-based commercial printer, was in bankruptcy liquidation and had no assets or business operations. During the weeks before the defendants began accumulating NEIP there was virtually no market activity in the company's common stock.

•Beginning on the afternoon of Friday, November 12, and continuing through the weekend, the defendants used public access computers at a University of California at Los Angeles library to create numerous accounts with Internet message board services.

•Commencing on Friday evening, shortly following the final purchases of NEIP stock by each of the defendants, and continuing throughout the weekend, the defendants used certain of those accounts to post messages on the Internet message boards falsely stating that the outstanding shares of NEIP would be acquired by LGC Wireless, Inc., a privately-held telecommunications company. One widely circulated message described the acquisition and predicted that NEIP would be "a fast mover" with a target price of "$5-10" per share. Other of the accounts were used to post what appear to be comments by third parties discussing the acquisition.

•In fact, there were never any discussions between NEIP and LGC Wireless.

•The defendants' Internet postings caused investors to order NEIP stock over the weekend of November 13-14. As a result, NEIP stock, which closed at a price of $.13 on Friday, November 12, opened at a price of $8 per share on Monday, November 15, and rose to a high of over $15 per share that morning during the first hour of trading, before the price declined precipitously.

•The defendants sold their positions in NEIP on Monday the 15th, realizing approximately $364,000 in profits.

The Commission's action also seeks preliminary and permanent injunctive relief, disgorgement of illegal proceeds with prejudgment interest, and civil money penalties based upon the defendants' alleged violations of Section 17(a) of the Securities Act of 1933, Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10b-5 thereunder.

The Commission is grateful for the able assistance of NASD Regulation, Inc. in this matter.

Sooner, how is your experiment going? I hope your last post doesn't sum up the last 2 and a half months haha. I'm curious how you have done at 1 month, 2 months, and now from your original goals of daytrading.

i'm down roughly 30% over the past 3 weeks on DARA. i don't like gambling too much on these specs so i only do one at a time. i broke a rule by holding this into the close on the day i bought it, and it's come back to nip the hairs outta my nutsack. the other stocks i was tracking in this thread have either gone down or been flat, so on the bright side, by holding DARA i've more than likely saved myself from losing more money.

My 2 month.....let's see, i bought CPRX before this and it dropped, I held for about a month and made a modest profit on it, so as far as two months, basically with DARA and CPRX I'd say I'm around even, although I did make a quick one day profit with UCBH in between and also had a nice two hour hit with Kewl's WAMUQ when it gapped up last month.....so in two months, without going back and actually taking a look, I'd say I'm up about 6 bucks. I had a hell of a run in August and into September playing some spec bank stocks, but I will admit that the confidence I gained from that is tapering off.

I'm still holding DARA because my gut tells me to, but I won't be holding it past the end of the month. All my other spec plays are in the slums too, so I'm willing to hold for now if for no other reason but to keep myself from jumping on another turd.

Haha thanks for sharing! I bet you've learned a decent amount. I wish you the best in your endeavors.

Don't like gambling on specs? In a sports betting forum? Hahaha wise, though funny.

and by the way, keep your eye on DARA.....i won't admit i was wrong until i sell for a loss
