Auburn - Gus Malzahn has said a number of times that quarterback Bo Nix will win a
championship at Auburn. Well, he has to start playing better if he's going to do that.
Nix flashed potential last season, coming up with some big moments as a true fresh-
man, but he was far too inconsistent a passer to lead the Tigers to a title. It's a lot of
if's, but if Nix can start completing a high percentage of passes and if the offense and
defense are rebuilt properly, then and only then will Auburn be a contender.

Alcorn State.....North Carolina (Atlanta)…..@Ole Miss.....Southern Miss.....Kentucky.....
@Georgia.....Texas A&M.....@Mississippi State.....Arkansas.....UMass.....LSU.....@Bama

*Beware of an improving N. Carolina team that will be played at a neutral site. Especially
when Auburn will travel to Ole Miss the following week for their first SEC game.

*Alabama's football coaching staff was paid $18,391,935 during the 2019
season. Nick Saban received $9,511,837 and his ten on-field assistants totaled
$8,880,098. An additional $4.4 million went to the support staff. $2,600,000
was spent on recruiting and $878,044 went to meal expenses.

*Clemson's backup quarterback Chase Brice is transferring to Duke. He will be
immediately eligible and have two remaining. During his career with the Tigers,
Brice threw for 1,023 yards and 9 touchdowns. Nice pickup for the Dukies.

*Alabama running back Jerome Ford will be transferring to Cincinnatti. Ford was
Bama's third string RB and rushed for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns last season.
He was ranked a 4 star recruit out of high school. Good pickup for Cincy.

*Former Wisconsin and Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema has been hired by the
New York Giants as linebackers coach. Bielema has made it clear he wants to be
a head coach in college again. Guess his Arkansas money ran out.

Hey Clover,

I just saw that National Signing Day is this Wednesday.

Are there still a lot of top players non committed or has this all diminished b/c of the early signing period?

I read your note on that Evans is gonna be nothing but trouble and that no team should really be too excited about signing him.

Signing Day used to be fun about hearing about a bunch of people that i never heard of and how their going to propel their program!!

Georgia - According to numbers reviewed by The Athens Banner-Herald, Kirby Smart
and his staff spent $3.7 million on football recruiting alone for 2019. That represents
an increase of more than $1 million over the previous recruiting year. The $3.7 million
is more than five times what Georgia spent on football recruiting in 2014, and more
than what Georgia's 20 other athletic teams spent on recruiting in 2019 combined. The
2020 class, now hours away from being complete, is ranked No. 1 by 247 Composit.
The Dawgs 23 man class includes commits from Cal, Nev, Az, Tx, NJ and Washington, DC,
plus the usual southern states.

Sucks when they step down so late. Could have done that a month ago. Then Cincinnati has to find a new coach.

Plus signing day is tomorrow.

What does sparty do now?

Also, does Fickell call his recruits and tell them that Mich State is going to offer them?

Right that is my point. I would think Fickell has to do that now. Geez what a mess.

Finkell has not been named Michigan State's new coach yet. He is rumored to be MSU's first choice.

As to why Dantonio waited so long to announce his retirement...he had a $4.2 million dollar retention
bonus to be paid January 15th if he was at the school. He did not just up and announce he was leaving
today...this has been going on for a week or so. There's also the question of recruiting violations that
are leaking out with some pointing the finger at the coach. More to this story to come...……………….

Mississippi State - Didn't take Mike Leach long to find a quarterback. Mississippi
State fans got some exciting news Monday when former Stanford quarterback K.J.
Costello announced he will transfer and play for the Bulldogs this year. Costello
was among the top high school quarterbacks (No. 3) coming out of high school and
was expected to declare for the NFL draft following the 2019 season. Costello was
second team All Pac-12 in 2018 but only played five games last season because of
injury. In 2017, Costello led the Cardinal to the Pac-12 championship game. He
also served as captain of the team for two years. The Pirate may just have his QB
for the 2020 season.

Clemson - With co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott off to South Florida as head coach,
Tony Elliott will now be the Tigers sole offensive coordinator, and as such his salary
will increase from $1.0 million to $1.6 million. The raise makes Elliott the highest paid
offensive coordinator in the country and the sixth highest among all assistants. Bama's
Steve Sarkisian earned $1.55 million in 2019, making him the closest to Elliott's salary.
Clemson's defensive coordinator makes $2.2 million. Good to be a coordinator for the
Clemson Tigers.

It's Fickell, not Finkell. And it was 4.3 million, not 4.2.

It is only Curtis Blackwell who claims recruiting violations by Dantonio, not "leaking out with some pointing the finger"...…. would not be surprised at all if they are false.

Blackwell looking for a payday from MSU and has been throwing crap everywhere in an effort to get it. (Dantonio fired him a few years back)

Yeah 6 of the top 8 are SEC and the other 2 (Clemson - Ohio State) are consistently in the playoffs.....some say recruiting is overrated
