whatever you say
You ask 1000 football fans who the best coach is ever I guarantee you at least 900 of them if not 980 or more will say belichick .
Ask those same 1000 fans who the best qb is of all time and Brady would be doing well to get more the 400 votes
Thats my whole point .I think people tend to be a lot less objective when it comes to evaluating the best QB ever. I mean, you've got guys in here trying to argue that
Dan Marino was GOAT.
The Brady File:
*Five Super Bowl Rings
*Four Super Bowl MVP Awards
*Two NFL League MVP Awards
*14 AFC East Division Titles
*12 NFL Pro Bowls
*Engineered the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.
Thats my whole point .
Not much competition for best coach ever.
You might get a few Bill Walsh votes here and there .
I can’t really think of anyone else that deserves to mentioned in the same sentence .
But being the best coach ever doesn't make you more valuable than the best QB in the league (or probably 2nd or 3rd)
Why do you think it does? We have tons of evidence of the top QB's in this era providing their teams with sustainable success.
We have 1 example of that with a coach, and he happens to also have 1 of those QB's.
I could maybe see this argument favoring the coach in another era, but with the rules and salary cap, QB is everything these days.
I say it starts with Belichek and flows down from there. There are far to many elements that go into it other than the qb for them to be successful. Playcalling, scheme, protection, defense......No doubt in my mind Belicheck would have been successful with or without Brady. Sure Brady checks off all the boxes but he would have found a qb who is a leader, is intelligent, etc. These aren't unique traits to Brady. And don't forget who coaches Brady and taught him everything he knows to be an NFL professional and x&o's.
Belicheck is the ultimate coach at scheming and bringing out the best in his players and was able to culminate all of this into Brady. We have so called professional analysts telling us you can't beat the Patriots with zone which is almost completely untrue. The Patriots offense is designed to beat you either way. Once they've identified the coverage they have built in man and zone options. Belicheck just outclasses his peers and is head and shoulders better than them. Anyways that my take.

If I was an NFL owner and I just bought an NFL team and I could have my pick of either A) a 21 year old Tom Brady or B) A 40 year old Bill Belichick I would choose B every time
