Lightning ML (-130), 2 units- I think the B’s are done. Not because they are quitters or are going to mail it in. But their getting killed in the goaltender matchup. Halak is giving up one goal per game that he can’t let in. While Vasilevsky seems to be playing the best he has since the restart. Rask’s unavailability has hurt Boston mentally and on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, I think the series ends tonight. Which is a shame because this had the makings of a great 6 or 7 game series. But it hasn’t played out that way.

Avalanche ML (-125), 2 units
Avalanche -1.5 (+160), 1 unit- I think Colorado will force a game six and I am willing to take a chance that they win by 2+. Which really isn’t that unreasonable if the Avs win. The reason why I’m betting Colorado but playing against Boston is the opponent. Tampa is probably the most talented team in the league. Boston could elevate their game and still lose tonight. If Colorado plays to their ceiling, they are the better team.

September 1st

Islanders ML (-125), 2 units- I was going to leave this game alone, hope the Islanders won and cash my series bet. But I can't look the other way when I think there is money to be made. The Islanders have been the better team and unlike the Bruins, who proved that they wanted it and still believed last night, I don't know if the Flyers believe. Whether they still have confidence or not, I expect the Islanders to close the series out. I was never a Philly believer and I expect the better team to win tonight.

If you want, you could play the Flyers ML in the first period as a potential hedge for half of your normal bet size. If the Flyers have the lead, you cash that bet and can still hit the Islanders ML. And if the Islanders have the lead after the first period, then I think the writing is on the wall. Just a little food for thought. GL.

September 2nd

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with tonight's game yet. I was wrong about last night's game, although I thought for sure the Islanders were going to pull it out in overtime. I still feel good about the series bet and won't consider hedging on Philly unless the series goes to seven games. The Canucks are hanging around which I am happy to see. I don't think they can win three straight over Vegas, but if they get the next one all the pressure will be on the Knights. I will be back later with one or two plays on the Stars/Avalanche game.

​Colorado/Dallas over 6 (-125), 3 units- It seems pretty clear at this point that these two teams are going to have success scoring. Colorado is now on their third goalie. He gave up three goals in their last game and I don't see him performing better then that tonight. The Avs should come out with the same fire they had in the last game and while they won't get out to another 5-0 lead, they will continue to have success finding the back of the net. I expect this game to be more competitive then game 5 was and as a result, I am staying away from a side. I lean Colorado to force game 7, but I would not be surprised in the least if Dallas closed them out. There's a chance we get the first low scoring game of the series, but I think that is more likely to happen in game 7 if we get there.

Avalanche ML (-125), 2 units- Game 7's can go either way so I am playing this one safe. The Avalanche have all the momentum and seem to finally be playing the way people expected them to play at the beginning of the series. Neither of these teams have experience going deep in the playoffs so we don't have that to lean on here. Small play on Colorado is how I see it, but I know this game is more or less a toss up.

Golden Knights ML (-220), 1 unit- This is a hedge for me on my Canucks series play. If the Canucks pull it out, I will still profit about 3 units. I only recommend this if you have a series play on Vancouver. Otherwise I would not lay over 2 to 1 on Vegas tonight.

Stars/Knights over 6 (-110), 2 units

Stars to Win the Series (+210), 2 units- I'm finally going to buy in financially and back these guys to win a series. I really don't see a big talent discrepancy here. Remember, both of these teams were in the top 4 and played those round robin games to start. So its not like Vegas has an advantage of playing one less important series then Dallas. I am happy to get more then two to one on my money just like I was when I took the Canucks. Vancouver didn't pull it out, but they pushed Vegas to the brink and I believe Dallas will finish the job.
