I am not sure what else I'm going to take today. Tampa is probably the right side especially if Columbus is demoralized by the 5 OT loss. But I don't want to lay -180. I need to do a little more digging into the two Western Conference games before I lock anything in. Thanks for the support and kind words everyone. I will do my best to keep winning picks coming. I'm really impressed with Columbus. To win a grueling series with Toronto, drop a five overtime game to Tampa and then come back and decisively win game 2 without Atkinson is no small feat. I'm not sure if they have enough to win three of the next five games, but Tortorella has that team playing hard every game. They will not be an easy out for Tampa. I was considering a small play on the Blackhawks, but they were thoroughly outplayed in game 1 so I decided to pass.

Adding:

Stars ML (-110), 3 units- I like the Stars and would have taken them to win a series against several of the remaining teams in the west. However, I think Calgary is a tough matchup for them across a 7 game series which is why I passed on them. With that being said, I like Dallas to bounce back from their game one loss and even things up tonight. Dallas knows if they go down 2-0, they are in deep trouble. Calgary will get last change in games 3 and 4 and will be filled with confidence. Dallas has allowed the first goal in 9 consecutive games and are well aware that they need to get off to a faster start tonight. I think they be motivated tonight and tie up the series.

Coyotes/Avalanche under 5.5 (-130), 2 units
Islanders ML (+100), 3 units

Just how I drew up the Stars win last night. Blow a 2 goal lead in the last 7-8 minutes and then score with 40 seconds left. Piece of cake. GL today

Adding:

Stars/Flames under 5.5 (-135), 2 units- I was waiting to see if the line would move from 5 to 5.5 which it just did at my book. I think we could see the ice play a bit of a factor with the previous game going to OT. Also both teams played yesterday and while there is no travel, yesterday's game takes both a mental and physical toll on players.

Flames to Score 1st (-115), 1 unit- This is simply a trend play. Including yesterday, the Stars have given up the first goal in ten straight games. I'm not going big on it, but I think it is worth a small play.

I'm staying away from betting on either team. I could see Dallas ride the momentum from yesterday's win. And I could see Calgary bounce back and retake the series lead. This series was too close for me to call going in and my mind hasn't changed. While I do like the Stars and think they are sneaky cup contenders, the Flames are a tough matchup for them.

By the way, Go Islanders!!

Bruins ML (-125), 2 units- I think the B's will be fine with Halak in net this series. He has played very well for them the last two seasons and filled in nicely for Rask when he has had to miss time. I believe Cassidy is pulling Ritchie today in favor of Studnicka which should give the team a boost to get a young player with potential in the lineup. Ritchie is important against physical teams which Carolina is not and they are exposing him with their speed. I think there will be a couple other lineup changes but that one is the biggest. And I think there could be a motivation angle here. I could see the Bruins leaders rallying the troops and saying no more distractions. Everyone who is here wants to be here and wants to win. Rask clearly wasn't into it and now he is gone and it's time to move on. Let's go avenge our loss in Game 7 last year. Something along those lines to get them refocused and reenergized.

Coyotes ML (+150), 2 units- Must win for Arizona today, simple as that. They have played Colorado tough for two games except for that stretch late in game 1 when Colorado scored 3 times. I think they avoid going down 3-0 in the series.

Good luck, let's have another good day.

Bruins moved to +100 as I hit post so that's the number I will be using. My guess is once Pastrnak was ruled out, the line moved in Carolina's favor. GL

Capitals ML (-120), 2 units- While I liked the Islanders before the series started and liked them to go up 2-0, I would be surprised if the Caps get swept. Which is more then likely what will happen if they lose today. Holtby is going to be looking for a contract at season's end and should be motivated to play at a high level. Washington is a good team stuck in a bad matchup. Similar to Arizona, I think they find a way to win even if they get outplayed.

Flames ML (-110), 3 units
Flames to Score 1st (+100), 1 unit- I'm sticking with this trend as the Stars have now given up the first goal in 11 straight games.

I don't like being so chalky, but that's what the board is telling me today. Lost a couple coin flips in OT which is going to happen. See if we can get back on track tonight. GL

Adding:

Bruins ML (-125), 3 units- I am happy to stay on the Bruins train. As I have said, I think they are much closer to the President's Trophy winning team who made the cup finals last season versus the team who looked bad in their round robin games. Svechnikov being out for the Hurricanes will hurt them more then Rask being out for the Bruins. Also, no Joel Edmundson tonight for Carolina won't help their perceived weakness on defense. I am concerned with the Bruins only even strength goal the last two games being Marchand's empty netter. They certainly miss Pastrnak, but they are getting opportunities. Guys like Debrusk and Kase need to finish the opportunities they are getting from Krecji who is playing great. I think we see a couple of those guys finish tonight and the Bruins D stay solid in front of Halak.

Bruins finally broke through. Got a little dicey at the end, but they got it done.

Flames ML (+105), 3 units- This series has been back and forth and I think it swings back to Calgary today. They were 12 seconds away from a game 4 win and will have redemption on their minds. Look for Dallas to give up the first goal and Calgary to hold onto the lead this time on the way to taking a 3-2 series lead.

More to come later. GL
