I think we're all waiting for Major to connect a BCN banner with BCN cancelling the futures bets.

What tough spot are they in. It's a question of integrity or money. If I were a mod here I would let Marty know that if he doesn't take down BOS ASAP I would resign.

How many mods are willing to do that?

Truth, I don't think thats going to happen. I don't agree with everything my boss does either, but quitting is tough. Also it would be alot easier for me to get a new job in my field than one of these guys. They might have to get a real job. What fun would that be! LOL! MAY'N!

BetOnSports story - Highly un-recommended book

Hi all - this is El Jefe. I have not posted on here in a couple of years or so but this news of betonsports.com being endorsed by The Prescription caused me to reactivate my account this morning. This is terrible news and I am sure many out there agree with that.

Here is a story from my one and only experience with BetOnSports:

Last year I spotted them having a line that I liked on one particular college football game so I deposited about $500 with them via Western Union. No bonus added as was promised (Problem #1), but fees were covered so I let that go. I then bet it all on that game and won the bet. Within the next 2-3 weeks, I made some more $500 bets with them when they had a better line or the same than my two other shops. It went back and forth, but after about a 6-7X rollover, I was sitting with about $1500 in the account.

I called up to ask for a payout and was told at that point that they would subtract out the Western Union fee because the money had not remained in the account for 30 days (Problem #2). It was never conveyed to me when I deposited the money that this was the case. And I felt especially after a 6-7X rollover, what difference would it make how long the money stayed there. But I patiently waited another week or so and then asked for a Neteller payout from them.

When they asked how much I wanted to withdrawl via Neteller, I asked for the entire balance. They then claimed to me that because I was withdrawling the entire balance, they would subtract out 3% from it (Problem #3). At this point, I was disgusted with them but still agreed to it because I just wanted my money out of the place quickly. They asked me why I wanted to withdrawl the whole balance and I told them that they just answered their own question with things like this ridiculous 3% charge. And of course, the Neteller payout ended up taking almost a week (Problem #4) despite being charged by them.

In short, avoid BetOnSports unless you plan on just losing the money you deposit with them. Let's all stick to the books we have had solid experiences with and forget so-called endorsements. My only two accounts at this point happen to be with Olympic Sports and Sportsbook.com. Both have been great and do not need to advertise here.

What's next on this site? How about adding a link to Joe Wiz's website?

The best route for the mods to take is to state that they have no control over who advertises at The RX as previous stated. For a mod to say BOS would not effect the avg. player is silly. "Craig" made a $100 parlay bet at BOS, the parlay hit, BOS decided to STIFF him. Craig did get part of his winnings after months of flaming by posters, SHRINK, The Major, certainly helped too.

I would've put BOS at ESB's level...and that's being kind to BOS.

As I said in another thread they would've really had to mend their ways to get any respect from me. I still wouldn't send them a dime...they hurt too many people over too long a period to get my business.

Actually, now that I think about it, I did have a problem with them at the start. I had forgotten about this. I had never bet offshore before, and heard their ads on the radio. I signed up by phone and then sent them $300 by Western Union. When I called to give them the confirmation number, they refused to give me the 20% bonus that their site advertised for phone sign-ups. I said that the screen is right in front of my face, and it says 20% bonus. The bitch said "nope, you had to get that confirmed before you sent the money, and I can only give you 10% now." I told her that her site does not say anything like that, because I have it up right now. She was a total bitch, and refused to give it to me. I know that this is minor, but it's implications are major. That's the kind of people they are, when they won't even honor what is up on their freaking site. Friends don't let friends play at BOS.

Good example, Illini

Thanks for another BOS example, Illini. This was one of the things I was getting at in my post. No matter how much they boast about bonuses, they do not deliver on them. Their website has all kinds of 20% bonuses, frequent flier mile bonuses, free pagers, comped VIP trips at their VIP spa, etc. Bonuses were not the reason I tried making an account with them but if they're offered, I should get them.

If we compare BOS with another similar "square" kind of book with lots of marketing effort like Sportsbook.com, I can say that Sportsbook.com delivered on anything ever promised. They sent a pager FedEx when I made my deposit. Bonuses credited properly. Magazines with Brooke Burke in them sent upon my request. I got several payouts, including two $10,000 payouts, by check Fed Ex'd to me with no charges. They are not a perfect book to use in terms of wagering (slow grading sometimes, halftime lines off the board quickly, etc.) but in terms of backing up the marketing hype they deliver - unlike BOS.

Thanks Chuck but when you assume you make an ass out of "U" and "me". I just love how you say the same things over and over again:

1. BOS, Mill, and Jag (all under that umbrella) are scammers and crooks.
2. Royal is owned by a crook.
3. Jake is the scum of the earth.
4. WSEX is the greatest thing since sliced bread (even though they have a nickel limit on NLF, NBA, and MLB totals while books like Pinny have 25k limits).
5. There is no way in hell that the Yankees will make the playoffs this year (although you really haven't been posting about this since they got hot).
6. You flame the hell out of posters who are having bad seasons posting their picks.
7. You spew 99% criticism and hatred about the same things over and over again.

Now I'm not disputing points 1-3 but the other 4 is what I take issue with. We get the picture about points 1-3 you don't have to post about it for the 1600th time.

I know that it makes you feel better about yourself to name call and bring others down with your words and god bless you for it. I think that shows what a great human being you are. I never said anything negative about you but you come out with this attack on me and call me a bonus whore. All I did was try to engage you in some friendly banter but you are soooooo sensitve and defensive. I won't make that mistake again Chucky.

In the words of the head moderator here at the RX I have to say:
Have a nice life

Very well put, but I wouldn't have even wasted my time typing all this to defend yourself against this guy. He has called me names and clueless many times when in fact he is wrong each and every time. He still doesn't even think that it is common practice for books to have prop percentages. Ofcourse, WSEX hardly has any and that is the only book he seems to like.

It's too bad that the person that got stiffed $500,000 didn't make this known before they went "public" with an IPO. Even if they are listed in a foreign market, there must be some kind of due diligence before the stock becomes a public offering. I'm sure if the public was aware of this guy getting stiffed, they would have lowered the price of the stock offering, and would have cost the principles a LOT more than the $500,000 they stiffed the guy for. He should have called the company before the offering and held it over them that unless they paid him his money, plus "interest" of course, that he would make it public knowledge of the non-transaction.

I should get a bumper sticker that says that. I had a nasty experience when I first started betting offshore as well. I know better now.

The only changes I have seen at BetOnSports so far is that instead of saying, "we are not paying, and there is nothing you can do about it", to "we are not aware of any pay disputes".

How can you be aware of any disputes when you're new? Like Gary was going to brief the newbies on the history of Better Off elSewhere.
