He's a POS because he doesn't do what the media wants, doesn't hold up to the fan's standards of what they think a ball player should act on and off the field and is a 40 year old geezer who doesn't like to run unless he feels like it (hey we know his body better than he does) and strikes out too much because he tries to pad his stats! Arrogant prick has the nerve to call the opposing manager before the game and request how many walks he wants for that day's game. You mentioned your son LOVED Barry so he obviously sees something in Barry you don't. Maybe the tape measure homeruns? Maybe the sweet swing? maybe even the way he conducts himself on the field? Being a father I know you can appreciate Barry the family man right? We can't argue that he seems to be a loving father, correct? No doubt he was a loving son. And since I have never heard stories of Barry slapping around his old lady or cheating on her I must assume he is a good husband.
I will give my final thought on The "Barry issue" True he does hate the media, and why should we care? I know he is not a poster boy for baseball and he'll admit the same thing. Sure he does'nt visit sick kids in hospitals and promise them homeruns (Like the wife cheating drunk Babe Ruth who at times showed up for a game hungover and hurt his teams chances to win) but oh well. Never seen a guy who has always been a decent citizen get such a bad rap for what he does and does'nt do on the field. As J man said do we really need to post his achievments to prove he may be the best ever? So when Barry is gone we can put on his Tombstone Here lies the guy who did'nt run hard all the time and liked to walk alot
