Can anyone tell me why the sites for the Belmont Stakes are lack-luster at best as compared to the Kentucky Derby and Preakness websites? They are not even updated.
Is there any authoritative website anyone would recommend for the Belmont above all others?
IMO Union Rags is a follower and not a go getter......it seems that he finds trouble,,,,traffic problems in every race he is in lately.....the horse is talented, granted that....but his desire to win has taken a back seat. Maybe with J V on him for the belmont...a chance...but a slim chance at that.
J V gives up on a horse if the horse cannot get going.....so leaving the starting gate will be the race....if he cannot leave, Union Rags will be an also ran....
One thing to note....lots of people want to discount Union Rags because of the Derby run. IMO, the Derby Run proves to me that he may win this race (and will be the horse I am betting) Look at the trip he has, the amount of times he has to pull up, and then his closing run. Granted he was still well behind but if that horse had been sitting in stalking position (5-9) in the Derby, he looks to me as if he would have stomped the field. I see his Derby run as one of the worst trips any horse has ever had yet he was storming at the end after exerting so much effort.
Union Rags - Winner
IHA/Dullahan for 2nd/3rd - All chalk in this race
Still have ill feelings on what J V did to the betting public with Looking at Lucky.....then he just quits riding on Went The Day Well going down the Pimlico back stretch ...because he said the horse did not have anything left......HELLO (?)
As of today, Sunday the 3rd, Union Rags is my key horse in Tri Wheels for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. ( that is if I win enough money between now and then to cover those wheels ) And I have a feeling that the payoffs will be huge due to I expect Optimizer to close a ton and catch a top 3 finish or hit 4th for the Super.
I would be Happy if we do have a Triple Crown winner though but this is New York and I feel as talented as
Mario Gutierrez may be, I feel he is in for a rude New York welcome from the likes of Johnny V, Javier etc....hell, even Rosie is bringing home some bombs here in NY lately.....
Mario in my opinion got two perfect trips in the Derby and the Preakness but I don't think he will get the same kind of trip 3 times in a row...actually I think the Belmont track will be a huge hurdle for him as well as for IHA who also has never raced at Belmont.
If Mario pulls it off with IHA I'll be in line to congratulate him and his connections but my money for now is on Union Rags as my key horse for a top 3 finish using ALLS with him.
And just imagine the payoffs in the exotics if IHA doesn't hit the board...just something to consider
No work for I'll Have Another before the Belmont?
Does this equal a fresher horse or a mistake?
