I'm in my early 40's.

I still have people in their 50's and 60's and 70's call me "kid".

When I hang out with my friends, we still feel young.

Yet when i hang with my kids and do their activities, i sometimes feel old as shit!!

I still act and behave and live young, even my kids and their friends don't mind hanging out with me. Dare I say, some can't even keep up :)

I do too much to be old, so I'm going to say you're old when you quit living

a compound fracture could happen to anyone anytime , i got a metal plate in my foot thats why i can't feel it . My kid cought that koksaki virus goin around her school last year, i got it and it went to my heart and caused viral heart failure. its some crazy shit

im 33 and feel your pain. Had a compound fracture of my right ankle along my growth plate when I was in high school playing football, fell a few weeks later down a flight of stairs and fractured my other ankle. few years back I got sick at work, didnt really think much of it. woke up and my skin and eyes were yellow and my pee was the color of coffee (blood). was in the hospital for a few days because I was in liver failure and had an enlarged spleen. I had caught mono and Epstein bar virus and shutdown my liver. the medicine I was taking for my "cold" mostly acetimetiphene was causing my body to go into toxic shock

my ankles always ache now, im on my feet moving around 8+ hours a day for my job and I find myself catching colds and shit much more often now.

Guys with bad genes and bad lifestyle habits start noticeably tanking around 38-40. Guys with great genes and more favorable lifestyle habits still can look and play young into their early or even mid 50's.

Around 35 I started taking lifestyle goals more seriously and I think 45 was about when I started feeling and looking noticeably older.

No man is anything close to being age proof, I'm knowledible about MLB. You're pretty much toast beyond age 35+, get your big contract when you are in a position of power guys because nobody wants to sign your (__#__) until you're 40. Very few guys are worth a crap after age 35.

There are of course some exceptions, most oftenly found on the mound or as DH. Starting pitcher David Wells is a great example, that fat fuck was like the John Daly of baseball, pitched effectivelly ,until he was like, 44. He had the talent to be an all time great but didn't care about that
Other guys like a Mo Rivera keep themselves in tip top shape, pitch just 60 innings a year and manage to be revered as the bestest thing since ice cream. Fat fucks like Wells and Colon go on forever
The market for sluggers has leveled out at about 25 M, you might get like 76 M over 2 years, but not 10 years and insane money well past age 35
The only real sport I can think of where a journeyman n pro can still play competively at age 50 or so is Jai alai
All time greats like Chemela can play at the highest levels at age 50
There is/was a paid pro player in Florida that was actively playing professionally at age 55, just because he needed a job.

Rastock or close to that spelling

Holy cow this is a depressing thread. Some of you in your lower 30's sound like you are on life support.

I'm 43 have 4 active kids and I'm still very active myself. It's amazing when I go to my high school reunion and other athletes from my class you would never have guessed played anything. Way overweight, slow moving, etc. Not for me, eat somewhat healthy and workout will do wonders for you. But I also still have a full head of hair so that helps me feel/look young. Some of it is bad genes, bad luck I get it but do more to help yourself.

Ok rant over.

I'm kinda surprised by the guys in their 30's saying how old they feel as well

At 33 I still feel very every bit as young as I did in my 20's, with a few small differences.

1. I can't function as seamlessly as I could on no sleep like I did in my 20's. I "feel it" if I get 3 hours of sleep now.

2. If I eat unhealthy I feel it a lot more now. I feel the food I eat effecting my energy more so than in the past. In my 20's I could eat two fast food meals and run a marathon same day.

Our appearance is always going to change somewhat as we age. But I am the exact same weight today at 33 than I was in high school. Just have to make a slightly greater effort towards it now.

After putting new water pipes in my house a couple of years ago I told my wife I now know why all those plumbers are skinny. The day I finally hooked it all up and got everything going I was up and down the steps so many times I was pretty damn wore out. And I'm "only" 61.
