How long have you lived in Thailand?

Was it easy to adapt to?

Visiting every year for the past 6 years...Finally decided to move here 9 months ago...

Very easy to make the transition, especially with friends already living here...

I am an Rx lurker and just got to Bangkok a few days ago and have a few weeks to kill here. Any suggestions as to good bars? Not especially looking for hookers but just a place to hang out at night and throw back a drink or 15.

Just kidding around,I don't mean to make light of your situation.Sounds like you need to get it taken care of ASAP though.

To be honest the amount of interaction that takes place between people and Thai police here is basically nothing.

Im not worried about it all. The odds of a cop asking to see my passport are the odds of the Cubs winning the World Series.

Great thread...thanks for all the info.
How about the job situation? Not career jobs, but like part-time jobs? I am almost 54 and thinking about retiring to a foreign country.

I have to go now but I can answer the weather question real quick and either me or my new friend Dinosaur Viejo will be happy to answer the other two Im sure.

The weather is hot and humid. Extremely humid and tropical. Thai people like to say they have 3 seasons... hot, hotter, and hottest, and they arent kidding. I was talking to a Thai guy on the plane and he told me "I better take my sweatshirt off", as I was unprepared for the crazy heat even though I arrived in the middle of the night.

Shorts and a T-shirt will do you well enough at anytime of the year here.

I need to change the name of this thread to "Ask us about Thailand" as Im sure Dinosaur Viejo is much more resourceful on any questions anyone will have as I have only been here 6 weeks.
