Hey, I'm a mostly non practicing Roman Catholic. But when my son and daughter-in-law asked me why they should have their children baptized I told them what I truly believe. The teachings of our religion can only help with the big picture, it brings some moral clarity, it teaches people to be good. Hell, this great country is founded by Judea / Christian values. And we are a generous, compassionate, caring and successful nation. We give more to others than the rest of the world combined. We have NOTHING to be ashamed of
But I eat meat on Fridays during lent
We also take more than any other country in the world so easy to give back isn't it?
Also, this country was founded on christian values. Big deal. It's 2019. They also used to burn witches and other weird shit in the name of religion.
Religion is being taken out of our schools and universities and most places for a good reason. It's called moving forward.
Personally I don't think religion makes people more moral or good. In fact when they religious people do evil things they go way out of their way to hide it making the crime much worse.
Again I can list pages of stories in America where a christian man or woman had an affair and killed the spouse so as to not be caught committing the sin of adultery where an Atheist might or probably wouldn't have killed somebody.
Don't give me moral clarity. Tell the many many parents of kids molested by savage priests and pastors who would never have had access to the kids if it weren't for religion about moral clarity.
Give me a break.
We have nothing to be ashamed of? LOL.
You are clueless about the country you live in.
I'm a proud American too but I am damn ashamed of IRAQ and how those involved in that fake cause for war got filthy rich (er) WMDs yeah sure.
I'm ashamed of the false flags in the support for the war against Cuba and I'm especially ashamed at how we treated the blacks in this country.
Well mostly, more relevant, I'm mostly ashamed of Iraq.
You really need to pick up a book or something.
