been taking one a days for years, plus a vitamin c ...never get sick...had the flu once in the last 20 years ..a cold maybe every other year.. should mix in some exercise and eat reasonably too if you're looking for good health.. I do take the Omega 3 fish oil capsules and Red Yeast Rice capsules for keeping my cholesterol in check...

vitamins , by definition, are nutrients the body needs to survive. The body cannot synthesize them by itself (other than Vit D, needs sunlight tho), therefore requires them from diet. If one has a balanced diet, a Vit supplement, likely, is overkill. However, may be a good idea especially in the young , during pregnancy, the elderly, certain ethnic groups.

from the good ole US of A's CDC;

Vit D

Well stated. The Thread title asks about "one a day vitamins" which are actually a brand name for a product that purports to provide full needed supplementation within a single pill.

My response to that would be No....in fact the coating on many such cheap "one shot" pills is such that the pill passes completely thru your digestive system withou being metabolized.

There are a host of legitimate food and vitamin supplements on the market. And if your normal food intake is deficient, such products provide clear and provable benefits

Fish oil is a scam. It does nothing and this is show in many studies. If people want to take it cause it makes them feel good and like they're taking an active role in improving their health, fine but it does nothing in reality.

That is simply not true .
The fish oil you get from Walmart for 7 a bottle yes but Omega 3 is 100% proven to lower bad chlesterol and raise the good chlesterol . It's also good for skin, joints, and brain function.

But most of what you get in the stores is in such low dosages that it's ineffective . That is probably what the story was saying.

Chop, look up many studies. Omega does nothing for cardiovascular health. Same with antioxidants. Did you know the guy who discovered antioxidants actually did a long term study and to his surprise they did absolutely nothing.

There are also a great number of studies that contradict this and "prove" antioxidants are crucial to good health.
Not sure who or what you can trust these days....

You can find studies that will tell you anything you want to hear but I assure you Omega 3 is one of the few supplements that deserves all the hype it gets.

Arginine is one supplement that does work. It dilates or opens your blood vessels allowing for a better pump during workouts. It increases blood flow "everywhere" if you know what I mean and it is noticeable.

Do you take it straight or just buy preworkouts with that ingredient?
Most preworkouts have Arginine

I agree with the arginine. Nitric oxide supplements have done me well in the pump department...

NO3, VASO and Muscleman seem to be legit...

My great aunt is 97, and still chews plug tobacco. It's hard not to giggle when she spits in the spittoon she keeps by her chair. If she quit now, it'd probably kill her Almaty instantly...
