Thx!
Just mentioned the words "projector t..."
wife shut that down before I could get the V out.

So is everyone still buying LCD? Or is it oled?
Or 4d or whatever?

Its 90% LED these days.
OLED is about to to make it big though but it's still 3 or 4 years away from overtaking LED.
OLED once the kinks get knocked out will be far superior to anything LED can do.

But they are plagued with image retention and burn in issues.
Same problems plasma use to have when they first came out .

Oled is my next big tv purchase when they get those issues fixed . But they are too flawed at the moment .

once you pick out your samsung... read the amazon reviews. they have had an issue with some of their 2015/2016 smart TV's loading smart content exceptionally slow. I think the latest iteration has addressed it, but the last two years have had issues. not bashing samsung... I am a fan. but i just went thru my OCD process of buying a tv and learning every damn thing there is to know about the systems in the $450-$600 range. I have an older samsung with no complaints/ I ended up with an LG this time.. is also very nice.
I am a Samsung and LG only guy when it comes to electronics and appliances (minus high end audio), and I chose the LG over the Samsung this time around and my tv just fried the main board after 5 years. It's rather disappointing, and not what I expected at all, but my LG washer and dryer are still bomb, along with another tv and a few things, and I won't bash the LG name because of it. This could happen to anyone, with any brand, so long live whatever tv you choose...

Smart tvs are the one CIA is spying on us with?
Weeping Angel...these should really be getting cheaper by the day right?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...wikileaks-samsung-smart-tv-hack-security/amp/

Theyre coming down drastically, all brands actually. They have no choice...

I wouldn't worry about that article. We are walking tracking devices. Those that wanna get all paranoid about government tracking should just off themselves already. It's a done deal...

65" Samsung was like $ 1,200 - $ 1,400 before the Holidays, absolutely incredible picture

The model I bought was 1 notch below the most expensive model, which will have all the latest bells and whistles and you will pay a premium for

and make sure it's a "smart TV", those features are worth the money

Ignore what others say about Wal Mart & go get a Vizio, Samsung, or HiSense from there for cheaper than other places.

I have/had them all & basically no difference.

And like other said above make sure it's a Smart Tv, unless you have a game console or fire stick in which you can access the same things...

I have all 3 of the brands I mentioned (I have 6 tv's in the household & outside) and the quality, even the picture, iis the same on each one.

They're getting just like Smart Phones in which they almost all do the same...

Although I'm thoroughly happy with my off brand ChangHong, it's not quite the Samsung or LG, but it's good enough that I've recommended it several times to ballers on a budget.

I too agree that a SmartTV isn't needed though.

Went to that newegg site and had to have some prices emailed to me

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=89-356-111

This is a 2016 55" Samsung like HareyCarey probably got. The 2017 is $50 more.

Yeah I have that exact TV. Happy with it.

My two main complaints:

The stand doesn't swivel. Irrelevant if you are hanging it.

There is only one audio output, and it's digital optical. I wish it had multiple audio outputs, ideally an RCA in addition to the digital optical. I run it to my sound bar but also have some toys that take RCA. You're going to get this with most of the newer TV's now anyway.

Overall great set though, awesome picture.

The CIA hacking thing is wayyy overblown.

#1. The CIA would have to come to your house and load an App from a USB stick onto your TV
#2. Your TV would have to be connected to the internet, in order for them to download any audio
#1. Not entirely true, There are some reports that is can be installed remotely
#2. If you have a smart tv, it is normal connected to the internet, whether you know it or not.

With that being said, the average citizen shouldn't have to worry about anything. The CIA wouldnt waste their time to hack your TV and watch you snacking while watching TV.

#1. Bullshit, show me
#2. Bullshit again. It would have to connect through a local wireless router, which you'd have to manually enter your router password,
so you would know

#1 - Its a non disclosed CIA leaked document but those are the reports. Forbes good enough? https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomas...-samsung-smart-tv-hack-security/#aeceed84bcd5
#2 - Why would you own a smart tv and NOT connect it to the internet. once you set it up its connected. Its not like you log in everytime you want to use it.

Um, there is 0 evidence that the CIA has/had the ability to install remotely, only conjecture that "it might be possible."

Hickey, who reviewed the CIA notes on the project, said it appeared the malware would infiltrate the TV via a USB key, as the notes on Wikileaks indicated USB install methods were disabled in a specific firmware. He said, however, that there's still a chance the CIA has remote infection techniques.

Also, article states that any update to the TV firmware closes any possibly hacking ability. So, like I said, this supposed CIA hacking of TVs
is wayyyy overblown.

e said simply updating the TV could well kill the CIA tool, as there's no indication the CIA is able to use the Weeping Angel malware on Samsung TVs running the latest firmware above that specified, namely 1118

#2 My panasonic doesn't automatically reconnect.
