Are Big TVs Cheap These Days?

Like 50ish+ inch? Doesn't have to be top of the line quality, but I would prefer it be a brand I can pronounce...not too Asian.

My $1400, 40" , 720p, 2005 Samsung LCD has been humming along all this time...but I need a new one since the house we are buying has a wall that will swallow that thing.

I'm for sure thinking under a grand should get it done? Sams/Costco/Wally/Frys the best bet?

Yeah. I got a 55" Samsung 4k UHD smartTV on sale for under 500 recently at Best Buy.

As for a good deal and where, Newegg usually has killer deals on Samsungs. I believe you can get what you want for under $750, and maybe even close to $500 sometimes. I see them pop up on Brad's deals too.

just bought a 49 inch sony bravia for 799$ at best buy...........great tv i replaced my 36 inch bravia with it.....eassssy peasssy

Depends morely so on how far viewers will be sitting back. I could easily get a 70, as could most here, but it's overkill, especially considering the price range he'd like to stay in, but hey, splurge if you wanna...

To each his own, but that's the exact definition of tv overkill. I'm not a movie buff though, and couldn't careless about a lot of tv. My sound system clearly makes up for anything that may be lacking in the tv department. And yep, that's what she said.

I got a projector last year and project it on a 120 inch rollable screen. It would work on a wall too just fine but I went with a screen. It's great for sports and movies. I would highly recommend one. I'm picking up a 4 way splitter so I can project 4 inputs onto the screen each being 60 inch diagonal. Can't wait for football. I think I usually sit about 13 feet back on the couch but as close as 10 feet from the recliner. It's intense and all encompassing but that's the point. You can reduce the projected size if need be especially if your watching tennis as the continuous movement is a bit much. You can make it bigger to but my available wall space limited me to 120 inch which was fine.

Crazy that costed $1400. It's amazing how fast the technology is developing.

the 55 or 65 inch Samsung mentioned here is what I would buy. I have the 55, and May scoop the 65 up soon for the media room. Enjoy your new tv man, they definitely blow your eyes when you first get them...

once you pick out your samsung... read the amazon reviews. they have had an issue with some of their 2015/2016 smart TV's loading smart content exceptionally slow. I think the latest iteration has addressed it, but the last two years have had issues. not bashing samsung... I am a fan. but i just went thru my OCD process of buying a tv and learning every damn thing there is to know about the systems in the $450-$600 range. I have an older samsung with no complaints/ I ended up with an LG this time.. is also very nice.
