Here are a few more interesting stats regarding the NFC championship game :

1) The last eight AFC/NFC championship games have been won by the home team

2) Minnesota Vikings are 3-12 straight up all time in road playoff games

3) The Vikings three losses this year saw two of them on grass

4) Philadelphia is 4-0 ATS as a home playoff dog

5) The last time Philadelphia went to the Super Bowl was in 2004 and the team they met was the New England Patriots.

And the two teams that they had to get through on their way there?

ATLANTA FALCONS AND MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Well, one down and one to go!

Nice trends........

There have been 23 games played in London & Mexico combined, that's 46 teams......out of those 46 teams, only 1 team has gone on to win the SB that same year......the Giants in 2007 over the Pats.

This year we had these teams play in London or Mexico:

Rams......lost to Atlanta in wildcard round

Saints......won over Carolina in wildcard round but lost a heart breaker to Vikings in divisionals

Vikings......won in miracle fashion in divionals

Jags......won against Bills in wildcard round, won over Pitt in divisional round

Patriots......won over Titans

Only team not to play in London or Mexico is Philly......does Philly win the SB?

Patriots are 3-0 outside of america, the first 2 times they didn't make it to SB......2009 the Pats lost in wildcard round & 2012 lost in championship round, both to the physical Ravens......

Of course Jags played in London also, so its a wash in this game with this angle.

"Nick Foles considered retirement after losing his job to Case Keenum on a Rams team on its way out of St. Louis in 2015. It is beyond preposterous that those two men are facing off in the NFC Championship Game, with Foles' old replacement in Philadelphia, Sam Bradford, waiting in the wings should Keenum get hurt."

"This is a defense-heavy final four. Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan all fell victim over the weekend to defenses ranked in the top-five of Football Outsiders' DVOA."

"That's why all the "analysis" that Tom Brady only needs to "beat" Blake Bortles, then Case Keenum or Nick Foles, is silly. Great defenses, not individual players, have historically proven most effective at beating the Brady/Belichick-era Patriots. The Jaguars, Vikings and Eagles all boast potential championship-level defenses."

You are talking about ancient history with Eli and the Giants, the Giants D gave Eli a chance to close his eyes and chuck up a Hail Mary to Tyree. I get you're hatred of NE but they have really withstood the test of time. In this spot I just can't wrap my mind around Blake Bortles, going into NE on this stage and even covering the number. Everyone is touting the Jags defense here as unbelievable, is this the same one I watched give up 42 to an underachieving, misdirected Steelers offense? What do you think McDaniels and Brady will do to them? Good luck to all but I just think this will be another blowout when it's all said and done. It's NE or nothing for me, I couldn't bet the Jags with a gun to my head in "THIS" spot.

Why is everyone so caught up on the 42 points last week?

They scored 2 TDs on desperation 4th down heaves into the endzone, another in garbage time. So lets just ignore the other 17 weeks of the season where they've shown they are one of the top defensive teams in football.

Did you see NE in the Monday night game vs Miami? Should we just analyze NE based on that one performance??

This reasoning is a big reason books take home the money, because many people can't see past the last thing they watched.

Tennessee has a good rush defense, and a poor pass defense. They were not good on the road, had a win gift wrapped in KC, and predictably got smoked by New England.

Jacksonville OTOH has a decent rush defense and a very good pass defense. They put pressure on the QB with only their front DL. They have corners that can match up with anyone, LBs that are swift and can cover, they force turnovers. If you can force Brady off his spot you can get this offense out of rhythm. Jags have the style of defense to give him problems.

I said last week Bortles needed to make plays with his arm and legs and thats what he did. He will need to do it again. They'll need Fournette again to have a good day, control the clock, play turnover free football. All of this goes out the window if they turn it over.

You guys are putting way too much emphasis on the 42 from last week. They jumped out to a big lead, Pitt came back at home. Couple 4th down heaves that were caught and a garbage time TD. I never felt Pitt was dominating that game offensively. Pitt made some individually great plays.

The weather should be pretty decent. They are playing with a ton of confidence. They have a defense that matches up very well with the NE offense. Can NE win by 14, of course they can. Turnovers, penalties, many things affect the outcome of a game. Hopefully the refs treat this like basketball treats their big games, by letting them play a little and not being whistle happy.

Jacksonville absolutely has a chance to not only cover but win this outright.

I get it, Bania.

Teams go into the prevent all the time.

But they do not give up 42.

Big difference.

It wasn't a prevent, except for the last TD. Pitt made great individual plays.

Don't know what the fuck Bania means.

My apologies for actually analyzing a game instead of saying....duh, they gave up 42 points.

I've nailed most of the playoff games, and my analysis is spot on with most of them. So your petty little insults are pretty worthless.

Skip the insults, stay on point, and try and add something besides your better QB drivel and uh they gave up 42 points.

I agree...nothing but overconfidence coming out of the radio and from a few people on here.
I don't get it, this team scares the shit out of me.

I do think the Patriots are the better team, but they can be beat just like anyone else.

It wasn’t an insult.
It was kidding, too bad you didn’t understand.
And I’ve written about this game on some threads not just the 42. So you are the one taking to insults.

Ok Serbone, my apologies.

Sounded like a crack at me, I took it the wrong way.

I was just dealing with an issue at the house, so was in a bit of a "mood".

I will lighten up sir.

Seinfeld reference? It actually was kinda funny, if taken properly.

Lines offshore have Patriots -9.5 (+105) or better juice.....a few places -9 (+100)

Vikings back up offshore to -3.5 (plus money) everywhere

Yes, Bania was hilarious, got on Jerry's nerves, kept saying the same thing, so many are saying the Jax D is GREAT, but oh the 42 was because of the prevent... hmm, I am not so sure.

You are a good cappper, we all answer sometimes on the run with our IPhones and it gets crazy. I like to hear different opinions, approaches, not just the guys that post 15 minutes before game time with no explanation.

SO I have leaned to NE - 9, but the other way of looking at things is that I thought Mariota could roll out, throw some short passes, run for first downs, run counters with Henry, throw some long passes when coverage broke down, scramble, and keep the ball and cover. He did, went 95 yards, a 7-0 start, until he was dinged, his quad, in the first quarter.

Then he was a sitting DUCK*, did not roll out, did not scramble, game over, Mariota is not a good pocket passer at all and he was sacked 8 times. Didn't help their best OL was also knocked out of the game.

Bortles is a lot better than the narrative we hear all the time, and is a good runner and might be able to do what I though Mariota was going to do, and Jax has a much better D than Tennessee...

Hard to go against the NE mistique, the hold they seem to have on the whole game, the referee thing, the fact that Brady has all his weapons ('cept Edelman), and their defense seems to have gelled. If the Jax O is stuffed, their D may tire and with all the options Brady has, whoa... by the way Lewis is a star who is not recognized much at all.

GL!

you make a great point re Bortles and his ability to run, I said in another thread I think this looms large as a factor for Jax...if he can run for 70-80 yards and get himself out of some tight spots it will go a long way towards keeping them in the game and giving his D a chance.

Tennessee went down the sh*thole when Mariota got hobbled. NE has been a covering machine at home in the playoffs, even against double digit spreads, but if Brady gets his bell rung and goes out with a concussion, I don't think Hoyer and the NE defense can beat Jax. I would like to take the NE-Minn ML parlay, but that possibility is nagging at the back of my mind.

Yup......if Miami can get after Brady & frustrate & make him pout on the sidelines, the Jags defense will kick his teeth in, lol!

Miami defense isn't the Jags defense.......
